What supplementation for oysters on HWFP 2

Hey all!
I've been running some experiemnts in the backgroun in edibles until I venture more into that realm.
My lions mane have really taken off. They produce well in my current chamber and location (moving in a month or two and will have to readjust... gulp); however, I basically can't get any other edibles to grow.
I have made some blocks with phoenix oyster, blues, yellows, tarragon, pinks and black poplar. I got 1 cluster from 1 of my black poplar bags, otherwise, nothing.
I made my bags with HWFP supplemented to 20% and some gypsum added. I have many blocks of the above species that never made pins after opening them up. My next plan is to dunk them (RT) for 4-8 hours and put back in the FC and see what happens, but I find it strange that I could only get 1 cluster from the BP and 1 cluster or 2 from the phoenix.
My temps are around 70-75F and humidity is 70-80%. LM look nice, so I would at least expect some leggy oysters to pop out, instead nothing!
I worry that maybe I shouldn't be supplementing the HWFP for oysters? Or maybe it is time to move to straw/straw pellets. The blue culture I have gave me some decent fruits when I did a fuck-it bag with the dowels I got as a gift (some coffee and coir was all added to the bags) so I know it fruits.
What gives? Any advice?

Funny how we can grow actives like a champ and edibles make us look like morons.
I got my oysters to pin like crazy and develop fruits using pastywhyte's easy invitro straw.
www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22512011
Only problem is the fruits came out kinda deformed and funky. I think it's been my conditions though, not the recipe. I have some bags I just put into fruiting conditions with the same recipe but different conditions. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Hello,
I grow grey, yellow and pink oysters only with HWFP.
I think 20% is WAY to much. I use around 8.5% and I have really good results:

In the big mixer I put: 39L of water 5Kg of supplement (alfalfa pellets) 15Kg HWFP 0.4Kg lime
And then I only have to fill bags and do holes with needles. (my bags have around 6 to 7Kg.. each!)
I put them 2weeks in the incubation room (dark as shit) and very small FAE. After 2 weeks I put them in the FC (I only have a power intake fan that is ducted from outside to bring fresh air) and I have another normal fan spreading the humidity of the 12 pond fogger. I did some holes on the sides of the FC so the positive pressure forces the air to move out from the FC through that holes, so circulates the air really nice.
About the humidity, I put 92% when its to pin and when it pinned I reduce to 86%. *I control this by the inkbird humidity controller, I plug there the fogger so when it reaches the humidity that I want it stops, and when it goes low, it starts again. Simple and efficient.
Good luck!

Thanks matey!
I'll have to run an experiment with 5% and recalculate my amounts.
I may just go for straw or straw pellets.
Do commercial oyster growers grow on hwfp blocks? or ususally on straw logs?
I did the hwfp for convenience as I was doing the other edibles, but I want to get fruits and will move to another substrate if better.
I also have some milky mushroom colonizing bags that are 20% supp 1:1 hwfp:coir, maybe I'll try cutting some HWFP for coir in my 5% oyster blocks...
Thoughts?

20% is good for oysters as long as your strain is aggressive enough. There is always a risk with supplementing non sterile substrates.

I sterilize.
I have some bags that are taking forever and others that have been fully colonzied in the FC for 2-3 weeks.
I do not use a lot of grain spawn to inoculate though...

25% of 1Kg of substrate is 250g of supplementation. If I use 25% of 59.4Kg of substrate (my batch and the one I described up there) is 14.5Kg of supplementation. I use around 5Kg for that batch, so it's +/- 8.5% of supplementation. Right?

How much spawn you use? I use 3.5% and I fully colonize in 2 weeks.

Not counting water, or the lime. 5 out of 20kg dry substrate is 25% supplementation.

Not much spawn. I am doing small test bags (about 1.25 lbs dry material) and splitting 1/2 pint of spawn between the 4...

@Hugofly You calculate dry material usually. If you hydrate the material separately and weigh you will see the % remains the same or close to it.
@fishermansjc The bags should colonize at the same time if they are all prepared with the same material and same spawn. What is the difference with the ones taking a longer time? Could be contams or humidity issues. Are your filters providing enough gas exchange for the amount of substrate you use? What kind of bags do you use?
Also what kind of supplements do you use?

I use unicorn bags, need to check the micron rating on the filter. I also use bags I get in trades so I usually don’t cue into that. Might have to.
I use wheat bran at this time.
The ones that are taking longer I may have reduced the wheat bran and added some coffee grounds I got for free, so likely too high of a nitrogen content and that is stalling growth.

Then you should be fine, coffee grounds take longer to colonize and give good pleurotus mushrooms.
