Colonization Lighting?
    #25295023 - 06/27/18 03:35 PM (2 years, 10 months ago)

When you colonize your spawn how long should you wait to go into full lighting?
When the bottom is covered in white mycelium or does it matter?

    Thanks

Lighting is beneficial at all stages of cultivation

I think you start with 12 on and 12 off once your spawn are ready for fruiting conditions.

You can start it at inoculation. Doesn’t have to be at fruiting. Like I said, it’s beneficial at all stages.

I personally don't cover the jars, but what are benefits of light during colonization ? (side effects: side pins )

Circadian Rhythm. The sooner mushrooms can get accustomed to it the better they perform.

Also light doesn't cause side pins.

Personally, i would go with a 12/12 setup on jars/bags because that's what they would be dealing with in the wild. I can't back any claim up about it helping them but it kinda makes sense and shouldn't hurt with a low wattage bulb.
