Yeah, I was afraid of that. Still hoping that I can pull off a harvest by August.
I have several other jars inoculated that are doing really well (about 50% done). So those will be a backup if needed.

That's really interesting, thanks. Reminds me of the time I tried to make cider with natural yeasts. It was... Interesting

U can expand cakes like grain too if u wanted to. If u have 1 colonized cake, mash it up in a fresh gallon zip lock with 3 or 4 fresh uncolonized cakes. Way faster way to up ur spawn ratio of ur gonna use cakes to do bulk.

I tried that method with one cake to 5 uncolonized, did everything as sterile as possible, and the spawn looked and smelled healthy. After it all colonized and I spawned to coco, it got Triched the fuck out, like a bad episode of Pimp My Ride.

I have an idea, I imagine it had something to do with the way I prepped the uncolonized jars. I didn't even put in a dry verm layer so I suspect that this whole situation was avoidable

If your going to use them for spawning, tape the holes shut so nothing can get in from the time of sterilization to inoculation.

4rth flush poppin some fatty siders. Golden Teacher from T2 or something, these boxes are not doing how I hoped. (I did 12 hour soaks in between flushes)
Atleast I got a empty tub to fill here.

Oh boy, Oh boy, Oh boy!!
Just flipped the shoe box lid yesterday and put it in my 66q with that lid flipped with a 1/4 inch hang off one of the ends. That is all I've done to it since spawn on the 3rd other than rotate it every day in front of the light.
Checked it to make sure I still had water beads on the myc and saw three pins and lots of knots and prims. Definitely Looking much better than my first 24q mini mono already.

Not a bad looking surface for a fourth flush. Usually see yellow, blueing surfaces after the 1st one on here. My first one is on it's 5th. looks like the surface of a moon but loosing it's mushy aroma. Giving that 3 more days and if nothing I'm gonna throw it before something bad happens. Looks pretty used and abused from my learning experience or lack there-of I should say.

Forgot to upload the harvest pics on this "menace" shoebox. Bunch of shorties.(I forgot to dub or unlatch the lid.)
They're a bitch to harvest, but they put out. Just over 400g wet.

My first shoeboxes are showing all kinds of knots. I love how fast these grow compared to a 56qt mono!!

PESA pin clone. A lot of the pinset aborted even though it was “heavy” with water- didn’t seem dry.. Short guys too.
