Hey y’all. Long time reader, first time poster. Used to hang around deoxy and know some of you from there. I have a fairly extensive experience with psychedelics and a background in hunting mushrooms, having spent many summers gathering cubes and other dung lovers in cow fields and agricultural areas.
I was wandering around this park with my kid a few weeks ago just after heavy rain and a particular mushroom kept catching my eye. I’m in Bibb County, GA and though I’ve always paid attention, have never encountered an active species in a lawn setting. I noticed that the rain had produced some trademark bluing one of the caps and my heart skipped a beat. I plucked one to inspect it. Coloring resembled cubenesis with a tan cap, brown nipple, purple gills and skirt from spores, but the largest mature mushroom was about 3” across, quite a bit smaller than most cubes. I snatched up a few with the intention of returning for more. On the return trip I also took some pictures of habitat and noted substrate material.
The habitat was a sunny hillside with some erosion present. There appears to be a pipe leaking just above where I found the largest specimens. These mushrooms grew out of both dead grass and disturbed soil, preferring the sunniest portions of the hill. Loblollies border the a area, but I found no mushrooms under them or growing from their needles. No sweet gums present.
Most of these mushrooms had coloring very similarly to cubes, but I noticed patches of mushrooms of a deep caramel color that also resembled active species. On inspection, I also noticed these bruised blue, but less readily than the others. I initially thought there were two species, but have concluded these were less mature specimens which have not been bleached by the sun.
I have tentatively ID’d these as p. Caerulescen due to their preference for disturbed red clay and lack of any manure.
2 dry grams produced mild trip. 3.5 dry grams produced a heavy trip. I estimate potency to beslightly less than our local cubes.

Those look like Agaricus, can you show a picture of the blueing you speak of?

Agaracis were present as well, but these don’t bear even a passing resemblance. The gills are an especially deep purple and some caps show bruising as well. Spore print was deep bluish purple, though isn’t pictured.

3.5 g dose of the pictured mushrooms was psychedelic? Those don't look like caerulescens.

Yeah, they don’t look like your typical caerulescens, but they do look like caerulescens growing in a grassy environment in Georgia. I lurked the shit out of Mushroom observer trying to make this ID. I’ll post some pics from there momentarily.
Being sure these were psilocybe, but unsure of species I took 2 dry grams initially. This produced a mild trip. Some visual distortion and CEVs. Two days ago I took 3.5 grams which produced a heavy trip, though slightly less than the wild cubes in my area and significantly less than the penis envy cubes I took most recently.

It would be cool if they were caerulescens, Macon would prob be the furthest south anyone has found them in the state by a damn sight. From the pics I’m pretty skeptical though...

Apologies. I would have gotten better pics if id expected it to be totally unique to this area. I got kind of excited and hoarded all the shrooms before they got mowed down. I initially thought they were cubes growing on fertilized grass, but that no longer seemed to be the case after inspecting substrate. They were all on decomposing grass or red disturbed soil.
These most strongly resemble what the majority looked like, though the coloring is slightly different:

I don't see bluing on any of them.
The mushrooms in your MO links have the classic caerulescens patterns on the stipe, which yours lack. The first MO link also shows the blue hue on the cap, which is another common feature.

caerulescens didn’t even cross my mind while I was trying to ID these. I’ve looked for them in my area, though in creek beds and around decaying pine. It only occurred to me when I noticed so many growing in disturbed soil.

The largest cap in photo I just posted has a purple bruise at 12 o’clock. Straight up from that is a piece of mushroom that is completely purple. Every mushroom in that picture has deep purple gills.

Original post states that ID is tentative.
I was certain of them being psilocybe for reasons stated, particularly blue/purple bruising. I’ve been hunting mushrooms for 15 years. I don’t go around tossing fungi down my throat. That’s how I’m not dead. You ever find a shroom that you knew to be psilocybe, though weren’t sure which one? Here we are.

Anyhow. ID’d as psilocybe. Ingested 2 grams, mild trip. 3.5 heavy trip. You can talk all the shit you want, but there is no doubt they are psilocybe.
Sample/print can be provided for microscopic exhamination. Alternate IDs welcome.

Those are Agaricus and you experienced placebo effect. Twice. I’m sure that’s somewhat embarrassing so I’ll forgive you for calling opposing opinions to your erroneous Psilocybe ID “talking shit”. In the future, don’t eat mushrooms when you don’t know what they are.
