Crispy

This is my Red Malays on 2018-02-11

And this is 2018-06-14
About 25 cm tall i would guess, in about 4 months.

These are grown inside under CFL and LED lights.
However, i put a Riafat in a bubbler bucket and its about 50cm tall, and it´s only the part above the netpot.
This is despite i burned it twice against the CFL lamp so it could have been even taller.
It was sown not long before the Red Malays.
Given hydro and good lightning they can grow extremly fast when they take off.
I guess cuttings would grow even faster given good conditions.

Dude its good stuff... not the most sustainable source of nutrient though, as its demand is causing ancient bat caves and their fragile ecosystems which depend on such aged feces some serious disruption. Most of these caves and their fragile ecosystems are not very well understood... so its a tricky situation. Unfortunately for myself, i found this information out shortly after buying a kilo of the stuff :cookiemonster: when it runs out, ill likely find another ammendment... though i kind of dont want to, its such good stuff :hehehe: And thanks Mateo. That one plant blew up super hardcore after that tranny... im most def a proud poppa

This is not about repay, i just share sometimes when i can.
If you could send me a cutting im going to be very happy.

If we can share with eachother when we have little more than we need ourselves, we all can benefit.
It´s almost the same as we share growing info, our soilmix recepies and such.
If one gives a little, one usually gets a little also.

Bumble Bee is hands down my favorite kratom variety, at least for those of us in the US. It outgrows the others and tolerates winters indoors better than the others. It branches profusely, especially when cut. One small B.B. clone this summer can give you dozens of cuttings by the end of summer 2019. It’s an awesome plant.

The good characteristics of the Bumblebee variety is the reason i want to get myself a cutting.
I live where it´s pretty cold and summers relative short.
If i can have it outside longer time it would benefit a lot compared to the other varietys that are pretty sensitive and must go inside earlier.
Riafat is pretty good but nothing like Bumblebee.

By the way, anyone knows where the Bumblebee clone originated? As in who named it, propagated it and put it out there? I've been told the full story of the Rifat clone first hand, I wonder about the others.

Followed Lipa's advice and transplanted my 2nd best Rifat seedling in an even bigger pot than the one I did a couple weeks ago, seems to be loving it:

We've literally had some sort of mansoon here for the past 3 weeks, it's finally over my trichos were drenched but the krat loved it. My best Rifat seedling survivor from last year:

More surviving seedlings I need to transplant:

And a cutting from another one that died this winter:

Isn't the Rifat clone Thai in origin, and the Bumblebee came from Vietnamese seed?

I don´t know the true orgins of any of the varietys.
Only at they orignate in the Thai/Vietnam/Malaysia area.
The horned variety i heard is native to Vietnam.

The Bumblebee variety was the first to be common outside of their natural habitat.
Riafat came after.
Both of these have been propagated for so long in the west i guess thats why they are more tolerant to our climates.

I read the Bumblebee story how it got tissue cultured and only one explant survived and that clone they spread and it became the abolute first variant avaliable, I think it was Bumblebee if i remembered correctly.
But i find that story maybe little questionable and seems to be one mans angle of what happened, if it now happened that way.
It may be true or false, i have no idea and it seem not so important to me.

If I grow the Mitragynas outdoors they get this hardgrown look.
At least my Riafats get this look outdoors while if indoors they get this smooth even color.
They also get these spots on the leaves outdoors.
I doubt it matters, and if it does i would guess the outdoor ones are more potent because of the variations in the conditions they see.
I wonder if the Red Malay/TRV and Green Malay get similar hardgrown looks.
I must take some out soon and see.
