Seems to be a common experience: Dropping your cell phone and cracking the glass.
But how common is it really?
Lets find out....

Never have, first few phones just got lucky with a few drops I guess.
I have a Droid Turbo II right now though. You can take a hammer to it and the screen wont crack. I've had it for almost three years now, still pretty fast cpu wise, awesome battery life even still too (lasts 3 days minimal use, an entire day on heavy use).
Next time I need a phone update, I'm sticking to something with equally good battery life/uncrackable screen. Seems silly to even have top tier phones without the same kind of screen as this one. Any phone in the same price range that has worse battery life, equivalent hardware specs, and a screen that is easy to crack is a waste of money really.

Only ever happened on one model of phone I had, happened like 3 times, got it replaced with the same phone each time.
Next time round I got a different phone and it's never happened since.
Design flaw is my guess, I take good care of these things.
Got that Google Pixel 2 now, it's insanely good.

I usually go with the 50-75$ phone usually a Motorola or Samsung. Never broke a phone screen since i had a cell phone back in 2001. 17 years not a single broken screen. I always leave my phones as is ive used a phone case one time ever otherwise its just in right pocket. I always have my phone on vibrate. It hasn't come off of silent since i got it. If its in my pocket I don't need a ringtone.
The first thing that breaks on any phone ive had is the charging port . Sometimes it just needs cleaning but after 2-3 years most get fucky

Used to specifically buy straighttalk phones that were plastic-screened (and on Verizon towers of course) don't make them anymore... after destroying 2 glass phones, I now buy gorilla glass to replace every few weeks.
