Kratom At Risk, Urgent Action Needed! * 2
    #25265062 - 06/13/18 09:10 AM (1 month, 6 days ago)

They are trying to impose a bill which would make Kratom illegal at the Federal level. Need your help if you care or are passionate about keeping this plant legal for the use of the people.

You can send an email to your local State Representative easily from this page!

Ideologically I am against any and all forms of prohibition...but even from point of view of someone who is a realist or pragmatic but still against the legalization of recreational drugs this is just fucking stupid.

Kratom is NOT dangerous, and does not generally act as a gateway drug to harder opiates, quite the opposite in fact. Having kratom available essentially OTC is a net positive in the war on drugs, it helps people deal with other much worse addictions, can be used safely to treat a slew of health problems, both mental and physical, but most importantly in the least acts as a stop gap when people with opiate dependency are unable to score but more importantly has been used by thousands and thousands to ween themselves off their opioid dependency.

They tried to do this before, but the backlash was huge and they had to abandon their plans, but that was under th Obama administration, I don't think those working for/inspired by Trump will be so easily swayed by public opinion. At least Kratom has a fairly large trade group lobbying on its behalf who can throw their weight against this bill.

But as the article says, this is a call to action, contact your Reps and let them know how you feel. Even if you don't use kratom we have to stop this on idealogical grounds, don't let them expand the war on drugs!

I think there should be some bigger news come this Friday. Go to the American Kratom Association's Website or go to r/kratom on reddit. Thanks guys!

Kratom has never been scheduled and doesn't give the right effect profile.
Quote:

with respect to a particular person, subject to an exemption that is in effect for investigational use, for that person, under section 505 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (21 U.S.C. 355) to the extent conduct with respect to such substance is pursuant to such exemption.

if ur growing for foraging for personal kratom it would be still legal, if it passes ( IF...ppl in house and Senate were the ones who got the dea to stop the emergency ban) this is written to stop import\export, retail, and general business that involves gray area chemicals. Extracts could be prosecuted but they won't put kratom in this new class "A"sshole

Kratom is subject to scheduling via traditional measures. This bill (SITSA) isn't needed.

Bad news, hope the bill gets an edit, Kratom is completely safe and does not need to be tied in at all with fent.
