Here is a little something I came up with 4 years ago now.
Copy of the original post
Put two air stones in a rubber made size of your choosing. hook up your hoses and put in the geo-lite or hydroton ( lava rock will work, it is much cheaper but weighs a ton). I ran them threw the side. I added the geolite 4 inches deep and water till it was an inch from the top . Plug in hoses ad cakes and go. I hope this helps someone.

Gotta love old moldy threads getting bumped.
The funny thing is, the shotgun terrarium came about after 25 years of trying to use my electrical and mechanical engineering degrees to design the perfect automated terrarium. My specialty as an engineer at General Motors for ten years and then Microsoft for ten more years was the development of robotics and computer-controlled automation. I've experimented with just about every transducer ever developed, and the net result is the shotgun terrarium, which has no electronics, fans, or other high-tech devices.
How's that for a paradox? RR

with the pmp ive always bin under the impression that there should be holes along the top of the geolite, to allow for gas exchange to make it fully atoumated, without them CO2 builds up.

Hello
To Mr. Rabbit,
I understand the SGFC is what you would recommend, however I am not home all day to fan and spray. I do have a lot of equipment available to me however. Could I automate the spraying and fanning part? Seems like pretty straight forward things to automate. I can spend personal time with them in the morning and at night... but for 10 hours a day I am elsewhere.
