Preparing for first-time inoculation!

Hey, everyone. I already introduced myself over in The Pub, but if you didn't see it... HELLO! My name is Lion. I really dig this place so far, but let's just get right to the point...
Set up my BRF jars earlier, and they are almost done cooking now! I'll continue to document the journey here, and I hope you guys get to experience your grower's virginity again, vicariously through me!
Question; I had a bunch of leftover BRF mix. I threw it in a freezer bag, and (obviously) into the freezer. Is it reusable this way? I can't see why not, except for maybe some water loss? I don't know. Has anyone done this before? I have plenty of vermiculite and flour left, so not a big deal if it's a no-go.

Hmm. Thinking about it now, it seems I may have erred. I don't know how I'm going to get the syringe to penetrate that top layer of dry vermiculite, and into the BRF mix. I really don't think it will reach from the holes in the lid. Is this a legitimate concern?

Hi and welcome. I've had some low like that before, you should be able to get some liquid to run into the brf mix. Normally you want to fill up to where the threads start.
For saving your mix, IDK. I always just toss the little extra after a make because it'll get moldy quick. Never tried to freeze it though.

That's what I'm hoping for. My assumption is the mycelium will find the sustenance of the BRF, and adjust accordingly. Then again, this is a blind assumption.
We'll see how it plays out. Thanks for the reassurance!

Hello, everyone. I just want to make an eventless update on my situation. It's been three days, and of course, no activity yet. It's my understanding that it could be 7-14 days before I see any signs of colonization. So, I'm really not worried yet, but I am having some doubts.
This goes back to the concerns I had a few days ago, earlier in this thread. Although I did reach some of the actual BRF mix with my inoculations, they were mostly in the dry vermiculite layer on top. Will this negatively impact the grow? Will mycelium begin colonization in dry vermiculite? I'm sure if it does, then it will make its way to the BRF mix.
I know I'm probably just being impatient and worrisome, and that I should just observe and see how it plays out. However, I can't help it. lol I have BIG plans for these mushrooms.
Does anyone have experience with this?

Be patient. Can take a few days to see signs of germination. Every where you saw liquid run when you injected should have spores in it.

Great! That's the technique I used. I suppose I'm just worried about it getting hung up on the dry vermiculite. Haha, I realize I am being quite impatient. It's just very exciting. xD
Thank you, gentlemen. Cheers!

I could see mine flow down the glass and to the bottom. I'm pretty heavy handed with the syringe though. I didn't blend the rice so well this time, kinda chunky.

Not me, unfortunately. T_T
I split one syringe (10 ml) between 6 jars, 4 inoculations each. Some ran down. Most didn't. :/

That should be more than enough juice to get them rolling.

Beginner myself... How long was it from inoculation until you saw some fuzz grow?

Yes, it will be fine in the freezer.

It will be fine the way it looks now. Don't be concerned about it at all.

That was about 4 days. Seems to be going a lot faster than my first round though the temps were just starting to warm up then and now it's pretty warm.. These cakes are a lot less packed too. Some of the rice is still chunky. I made these with my own print/syringe.

Yeah these seem to really be moving quick. A lot more porous than the fine flour cakes.

UPDATE: It's been six days now, and... BAM! First signs of mycelium growth!
Of the six jars, only one remains unchanged. The rest are all showing activity now! I apologize for the shitty camera angles, but I really didn't wanna pick them up or disturb them, so... These three show the most.
