Aesop Fable of The Day
    #2524641 - 04/04/04 03:58 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

Once upon a time..
Wind and Sun argued over which was the stronger. The Wind said, "Do you see that old man down there? I can make him take his coat off quicker than you can."

The Sun agreed to go behind a cloud while the Wind blew up a storm. However, the harder the wind blew, the firmer the old man wrapped up his coat around him.

Eventually the Wind gave up and the Sun came out from behind the cloud and smiled kindly upon the old man. Before long, the old man mopped his brow, pulled off his coat, and strolled on his way.

Moral: The Sun knew the secret: warmth, friendliness, and a gentle touch are always stronger than force and fury.

That wind was a wuss...he should have called over some friends and organized an ambush.

Not fair! I posted that one before! It was mine before you used it! I hereby take full credit for it!

I live in tornado alley and I think it is a cute story, but here's the ending:

Four billion years later the sun exploded and killed all 500 of the mans living descendents. Cause the sun is a bitch.

Thats what i was thinhking too, as i also live in the "alley". but i can see the merits of the fable, i can also see where it falls short of being a really strong "moral type story"

i had this same thought during a potent mushroom trip...
i was thinking about all the petty conflicts i have with my family , and was thining how many could be resolved if before arguing you simply said 'i just want you to know i love you and thats the most important thing' than maybe give em a hug. With this techique the argument is killed instantly, whereas when we try to win it with anger of force or volume it quickly escalates
