Got to work on my no tilt jar lids today. Everything fit together great.

The barb on the bottom end of the syringe connection goes to a hose. I can just cut lengths of it depending on the jar size I'm using and keep it in place with hose clamps. Everything is specifically autoclaveable, but the hose was just generically labeled "polypropylene" so we'll see if they melt or not. I think it will be ok. Since I have the whatman instead of an sfd, this should function as either LI or LC. Might need to saran wrap it before an LI shake thought to try and limit leaking through the threads. The cool thing about going LI is that I should be able to get big chunks of agar into the syringes by circumventing the needle, and then when I put the needle on to inoculate, the chunks will break up really finely from the pressure of the plunger.

Why do you need something that big? I've seen the 100qt at the store and that thing looks like a storage closet. You need something double the size? Are you spawning your tubs in your sab too?

So I can do multiple things in one sitting. 10 jars plus the the agar for inoculation and it's too cramped for my taste. I'd like to be able to do that, and multiple transfer in one shot without stopping to reload the box

I know most people cut arm holes in the SAB but I have had good luck just putting the storage tub on its side and working and viewing the work through the large opening. It helps to work as deep inside as possible and I'm sure good sterile techniques has a lot to do with my success but it has worked good for me and doesn't destroy the box for other uses.
My first SAB was just a 10 gallon aquarium laid on its side which worked good for agar work but wasn't tall enough for working in jars comfortably.
If you view your work through the large forward facing opening, it shouldn't need to be a clear box. You could always add a small light inside if it is too dark to see.
Another option would be putting a glass or transparent window (picture frame) over a cutout wherever you want to look through.

One more thought after seeing your last answer is possibly putting 2 tubs together to give you twice as much room inside.

Walmart recently started carrying a 200 qt sterilite tub.
My mouth started watering when I saw it.

I been wondering about taking a large tub, and not cutting holes in it. Just let it overhang the bar or table by about 8 inches and stick your arms in there. Has any one done this?

I'm old so I remember plexiglass being really expensive. Is that still the case?

Thanks! Ive had some good results working in it. You can put all of your equipment inside with plenty of room. The little table inside keeps everything comfortable.

Hi everyone, it's my first post so please bear with me.
I've got two monotubs full of peat and coir which I inoculated with grain spawn 4 days ago. I layered the grain and didn't mix through (which was probably a mistake).
I've had the 6 holes coved with non-breathable tape since then, and the humidity seems like 100%. The mycelium seems to be growing through the bulk, and emerging on the top, but I want to know whether I should be uncovering the holes and stuffing them with polyfil right about now? Will the mycelium be able to colonise the whole thing if I leave the holes covered?
Any help is really appreciated. Thanks Here are some pictures. Sorry they're dark - I'm not using a grow lamp.

that being, said. Many people induce fruiting conditions at spawning without problems. My area is too dry for that but its possible
