Thank you!!!! They were saying that they do hunt in cow patties but it was only once a year at a certain time. About 3-4 hours from where I am but this is a friend of a friend so getting 100% information is kind of hard you know. I appreciate everyones help here, thank you again.
P.S. So are we clear to say that these are not PS? And what about poisonous? FATAL?

Yes, for sure not active.

Maybe. Better pictures are required to determine that.

Urb said: Not to disagree with everyone , but the second pic looks a little like a dried Copelandia cyanescens that I find sometimes. I'm not telling you to eat it.
And like a few other Panaeolus species, too. There are no Copelandia cyanescens in Cali, either.
Copelandia bispora has been found in Cali recently. Although that is a very rare find.

OK I think we might be starting to go in circles now, so here's another question,LOL!!! I've been looking up the genus that you have suggested might be what I have and none of them say they grow in manure. Most of them are stated to grow in lawn, rotting wood, wood chips and on the other hand I have found some that say grow in manure none of which you think. So my question is, if it is found growing in manure wouldn't that be it's habitat along with other places it might also grow? Most of these grow in multiple places and are stated in the descriptions.

Your best bet is to get some better photos.

Each genus that's been mentioned to you in this thread has dung dwelling species. You have presented us with tiny, vague, blurry pics of battered mushrooms with very little information about them.
Also after you mentioned your ordeal at fungifun.org I investigated and no one said to you that any were active.

Ok Mr. Dannyglick here is what was said to me on fungifun I copied it and now i'm pasting it. So before you sit here and say I am giving false info please read everything thouroughly!!
It looks like their could be a couple strains in there, did you take a spore print? what was the surrouding area like? is there just the 3 caps and stem?, are there anymore growing where u found them?
and they appear to be magic from what I have read.
-Appearance is tricky when hunting
Hopefully Anno makes an appearance.

Well I didn't take that as he was saying they were definitely active.Sounds like an inexperienced, uneducated guess to me.
Anyway they are not active and will never be.

Well the shrooms are all dried out now so I don't think I can get better pictures. But if your telling me that you are 99.9% sure that active shrooms don't grow wildly in california on cow manure then I will leave it alone. But on the flip side do you think you might be able to educate me on what shrooms would grow wildly in california?

I live in Florida. I get my shrooms from a cow pasture! How do these rate as far as potency? And my prized field is still there!, but the shrooms are not! The first time in twenty years. Can the cows or the field be treated so the shrooms won't grow?

If you live in Florida it's still very early in the season. Go again in the next few weeks after some good rainfalls.

I am finding shrooms all over the place, but in the one field there is none. It seems odd and I can't figure it out. We had a good rain about two weeks ago, and there is a healthy crop. I live in an area that has fog almost every night.

That depends on where you are, my season only ends in the Panhandle when the temps drop to freezing for a few days in a row.
