I have a bad habit of loosely following directions and pushing limits to see what I can get away with (I usually have some sort of a reason though). So far pc times haven't come back to haunt me but I haven't done enough yet to really tell, nor have I done enough with a really packed full PC. I don't recommend doing the weird things I do lol, I don't have enough experience or results.
If you're interested though:
I can see surface area to volume ratio being important for PC times needed, for example bags have such low surface area to volume they take a super long time for the heat to penetrate to the center. I think that heat transfer would occur in a PC via the portion of the water in the PC converted to steam contacting the surface of containers, so for pints they've got a lot of surface area to transfer heat relative to their volume, and so the heat penetrates faster, sterilization occurs faster. If anyone knows otherwise I'm just speculating.
Quick numbers to show this: for a cylindrical container with radius x height:
10x10 (pint example not with any measurements): SA 1256 : Vol 3142, SA:Vol 0.4
10x20 (quart example, ~2x taller) SA 1884 : Vol 6285, SA:Vol = 0.3
So there's more surface area per volume for a pint than a quart (or a cylinder with double the height but same radius), so assuming what I think about how heat transfer works is accurate that's why you can theoretically go shorter for pints, assuming that surface area can effectively be exposed to the steam (depends on arrangement of jars). For the same reason as above though you are able to fit less grain per load since more space is taken up by container surfaces vs. grain volume. A trade off between time needed and volume done.
Thanks for the welcome!
PS. if this is too far off topic or stupid and obvious let me know and I'll get rid of it

Thanks dude!
Ugh. Unfortunately I'm still a mold farmer on the agar frontier. So I've yet to use her. I've got her ready for when I finally get some mycelium growth.

Possibly due to low humidity? How are you fruiting them?

So, today i went out in the rain about to throw out this old ass tub that i still kept around out back, but it had growths ive never seen before on coir when it was finishing its spawn run and yellow liquid (alot of it, too much for normal metabs). So i wasnt gonna let it fruit inside, But anyway. I decided to just put it out and didnt check it for weeks, today it was raining like hell and i was afraid of what i was gonna see in there, but i was surprised with this. And no more of that liquid. Nature-grown Maz culture that i made

Its good to have some of these maz to try out before the rest of my spawn is ready, i was truly surprised (in a good way). There was a slug trying to make its way in, but it was bug free cause it was a tub with latches.
