I'm still digging my aa921. How much are the bargain prestos hurting you in down time? Buy once, cry once...
I started out with a presto so I know.

I am wondering the exact same thing.Ive resorted to slug pellets around the area for the slug issue, but the pill bugs crawl all over and thru it.(straw/manure/spent sub compost pile) On top of that I got squirrels that want to dig thru it and I have had to put mothballs around to try to deter them.

Down time is at one week, but if I hadn't bought a second one at the store today it would be 2 weeks by the time I get the replacement.
Once I get running big time I will invest in an aa, but so far 2 presto 23qt plus the shipping to send the lid back for a new unit leaves me under $200. So for the price of one new aa I can have 3 presto. I realize there is a huge difference in the quality, but considering I will get more done with more units I will go cheap, for now.

I reread my comment and it sounds rude. Not how I meant it. I was tired last night. My old presto was going through those rubber seals like crazy and I got fed up. I do give it credit for getting me into the hobby for cheap though.

No offense taken. I was amazed that I had this problem, the hole. The customer service was amazed too, the first lady said she had never heard of this happening. Unfortunately I had to pay to ship the lid back for reasons unknown to me, but I did keep the rubber seal, weight, and handles, so I suppose I have an extra to offset a little cost. The kettle is gonna become a new planter pot for me garden lol

Nice, I have had the same model in the past when I lived elsewhere, and my buddy did too. Only fucked one up by falling asleep and running it dry, but that was back before I started venting and adjusting the heat properly. The tap water here is hard as fuck, and there must have been impurities in the metal it was made with. From now on I will be using RO water.

After a batch of jars were deemed unusable I have one good one left. Can anyone tell me how to fruit straight out the jar? I tried searching but couldn't find anything. I'm guessing it needs a casing layer and to be hydrated somewhat?

Either way, throw some moistened coir on top and stick a zip lock bag over it. Mist every other day or so depending on conditions

Make sure that's by weight. Volume that'll be pretty muddy

I started out with a presto so I know.
i have a presto and a 921
i like them both
presto takes less time to get up to pressure and requires less heat throughout the cooking
921 fits 10 and feels solid as fuck
i use my presto for agar
never had a problem with either

I have a presto 8 qt which I use for agar or sterilizing glass dishes and it's amazing. Unmodified it can run over 3 hours no issue uses a flame just over a pilot light flame
And a presto 21qt which a JFK half dollar on top the weight makes it amazing too.
Of the people I've seen own both AA and presto I don't think I've ever seen one compalin about the presto.
Why spend way more than necc to scare all my company into thinking I have a bomb on the stove?

I got a presto 16qt and an AA930.. I like both but each has a different purpose now...the AA is for grain prep...and the presto is for agar and sterilizing syringes and jars of water

Nobody could tell you from a single pic. This isn't the best place to get an ID. This thread is to talk about cultivation. Try to make a post in the Hunting and identification thread we have please dont change the titles of pre-existing threads

My old presto was a really old model. 17 quart. Idk. After several runs with it it began to not keep a seal. I bought a few rings trying to fix the leak. Also it was noisy and used a lot of water.
My aa921 was a game changer for me and is seriously one of my better purchases I've ever made. Zero Regerts.
I spent too much on it too. Local hardware store vs Amazon or eBay.
