I need some advice in making a spawn bag

Tell me if you guys think this might work..
-Using a Hefty ziplock freezer bag -Cutting a small square hole on one of the sides towards the top of the bag -Puting a layer of Tyvec taken from an unused ups envelope and using industrial strength tape to secure it over the hole. -Fill the bag with brf/verm -Wrapping in a towel, or tin foil so when its being boiled it does not melt -Innoc' in a few seperate areas all over the bag, then putting tape over the holes -Then incubating the bag
To me, the only problem I see would either be the bag melting, or the tape coming off during the boiling process... Would like to get some feedback if anyone has tried this, Thanks!

The only real problem I see is with the tape, Tape tends to come apart in steam, so I would suggest a plastic glue, used for plumbing in hot water plastic pipes instead of tape, for glueing on the tyvek square.

Dude, ziplock bags will melt in a pc, regardless of whether or not they touch the sides. You can buy autoclavable spawn bags with filter patches from many shroomery sponsers at very reasonable prices.

You can get away with steaming them, or boiling them, as long as you allow them to cool down well. If he has a pc he needs to use either what you suggest, or oven bags, used for cooking turkeys. If he does have a pressure cooker, he also needs to be using grain, not brf.

-No, I dont have a PC. -As much as I would like to support the Shroomery's sponsors I am pressed for cash at the time. -Are those autoclavable oven bags sealable? or could I just tie in a knot at the top or use a rubberband? -Would straw mixed with some verm be a good substitute for brf?

Sorry dude, I assumed you would be using a p.c. Straw is typically used as a bulk substrate, and pasteurised as opposed to sterilised. I wouldn't recommend injecting straw with spores. Oven bags are not usually sealable, but could be closed with wire or "impulse sealed" using a normal iron with a peice of paper between it and the bag.

Cool thanks, but I have one more question to bug you guys with. Im going to choose the oven bag with brf/verm. How much substrate do you recommend I fill it with to get a decent colonization time? My goal is to use the colonized bag for my first bulk attempt with straw.
