As much as I love it and I am a functional every day stoner the happiest most productive days of my life have been absolutely sober for the most part and I feel like a break could be very beneficial for me. Hard to admit because it's my favorite and always will be and I know I'll be back but it's for the best I think?!?!!!

Goodluck brother, and as Pat said, I wish I could do the same.
Been on my smoking regime daily for the past 5 years, it's time for me to take a break I'd say. May try to join you in the attempt to quit

Beware.
When you try going back it may never be the same. I quit for 7 months or so with plans to come back to it but Now when I try it’s just not enjoyable anymore. I think I enjoy the nostalgia of smoking more than the actual effects of the weed

Sometimes I quit and it's nice for a while. I think I'm better off being high though. I can get pretty rambunctious without weed.

I need my weed. It doesn’t inhibit me at all though. Whether it gets me high or not, I use it like a medicine. I’ve tried to quit before but I don’t think I found any real benefit. Everything I am when I’m sober is everything I am when I’m stoned. Although, being a daily smoker is certainly different than being an occasional one.

I started using it again after being sober for about 6 months. I told myself I'd only use it again when I achieve some form of success. Well I achieved something and my situation made it ok for being often high again. Now I use it mostly for just for hiking in the wilderness, which is bountiful where I just moved to.
Didn't notice any significant effects of staying sober and then getting high again.

Good luck man
You are going to feel awesome and healthy and super bored at the same time
I am also taking a break again, and have actually for the first time in my life thrown away a perfectly good amount of high quality concetrate. Had to use an outdoor thrashcan too.
Couldn't use our home trashcan for obvious reasons (yes I am that weak )

Yeah, but he is right, it *may* never be the same this time, prior experiences don't really matter.

I smoked the reclaim out of a vaporizer I had been vaping a ton of hash with I just found. It had globs of delicious thc. I haven't purchased any though and still don't plan to I had a much more productive day today even though I was much more frustrated than usual.

Jack Daniel said: word up OP I've been feeling the itch for a break too; that's one of the downside's with weed-culture; smoke weed everyday can be good and all; especially if you got cash like Snoop; but I think most all folks could benefit from more balance; the whole world needs some balance right now; folks going crazy left or right or up or down; bound to loose our grip and go crashing if we don't get back on that middle way; on that red road; on the tao.
joke is we already doing it; the equation rebalances; might take time; but the vibe tells me it's all a cycle; day and night; tho some nights are longer and some days shorter; and vice versa; same shit that happens cuz the seasons;
what metaphysical season are we in right now?
Well the give me the impression we're experiencing either dusk or dawn; whether we have a long bright day ahead or a cold dark night is somehow up to 'us'; not sure how it's all going to play out in the end; but it no doubt it's going to be awesome as fuck; one way or the other; for this too shall pass; and so too shall the next phase
it all comes back around
There’s no cycle collectively guiding the stoner community. People individually decide whether or not to live balanced lives, get their shit together, control and monitor their own thoughts and regulate their own dopamine seeking behavior in healthy ways.
Most people who smoke everyday, are totally unaware of all this, they might be aware of a ton of shit people who don’t smoke aren’t aware of but I say from experience most do not think about their own behaviors especially smoking, as objectively as they think they do. They just don’t.
Everyone likes to think weed is just an accessory substance. That doesn’t really get in the way of anything but it does. It tells your body it’s time to relax, your routine is effected by this, smoking becomes ingrained in your routine and becomes a subconscious need everytime you feel whatever it is that smoking helps you not feel. Boredom. Fear anxiety stress etc. when you smoke everytime you feel these things you rob your mind of the chance to figure out new thought patterns and how to think about these feelings in a way that allows you to act differently or take some kind of action or even just change the way you look at certain situations so you can be content when they arise in the future. This makes you weak, and chained to smoking for your relief. Nobody wants to hear this shit that smokes. I would of never acknowledged this when I smoked. But now that I don’t and have gone through the hard process of realizing all these things I know it’s true for a lot of daily smokers. Not all. I think we tend to underestimate the small choices and especially the small vices in our daily lives. When we think about our selves we think about the big picture “oh I’ve got this job, this car, these friends etc” we don’t think “I wake up i smoke I eat I sit on my ass doing nothing until I go to work then I hang out with friends etc” when we are content with a life that isn’t everything it could be we forget that a better life is just at the end of a few different small choices made everyday.
That thing about a habit taking 7 days to form is true, and it’s liberating to actually prove it to yourself when it’s a good habit. Because it shows you that you can do fuckin anything you set your mind to and it’s all YOU. It’s all you happening to life, life isn’t happening to you, you are happening to life and that is intimidating as shit if you KNOW you could be doing better, but once you do better and prove to yourself you can make positive changes it is empowering knowing you are in control. There’s a great essence of freedom to it and your mind becomes much more ridgid in my experience/opinion. Your thoughts stop being about observing what’s happening to you and everyone else and start becoming about what the hell your gonna do next, what new thing am I gonna bring myself to conquer today, and what will conquering that allow me to conquer in a week, a month, a year etc. for me doing this made me stop looking at the world so much and griping about how shit isn’t fair or obsessing over why some people are destined to be more successful or far out in depth observations about why some people are more or less aware than others, or shit like cycles effecting human behavior...all that shit can be interesting and some of it may even be useful for people who have the ability to effect social change on a mass scale, but I’m never going to be able to do shit about it especially if I don’t start looking at my own life with the same microscope and start making positive changes
Didn’t mean for any of that to sound preachy or anything. Just my 2cents on the subject.

Allot of what you said is true for chronic use. Moderation, a word that has taken me decades to grasp, is different in my opinion. I trip no more than twice a year, I smoke one to two times a month. I feel that doesn't negatively impact me in any way, as I don't drink....in fact, it makes my life better. It can be a slippery slope though, moderation or whatever word one wants to use can be elusive, if not done diligently.
