Uh, no way man.  Golden Halo is a large fruit producer, and I've heard nothing but raves about it's potency.  Where golden Halo consistently lacks in is the prolific flushing/dense cluster department, and golden spore production.  It has some other weird characteristics, as well.  Such as the way it throws aerial mycelium, and has a tendency to blob.

I dont care about the spores too much, but prolific grows are awesome. Ive never eaten GH but i wouldnt doubt that its potent!

I do still wanna see that golden print from my own grows with it.

I havent even grown it out because, life stuff and focusing on some other projects. But i wanna get to it soon. Lately, just Great White Monster and Maz, two strains and many plates of each, already alot of work. Hopefully will be rewarding

I like Golden Halo, man.  It's one of the best looking Cubensis, imho.

The Azazel spawn is about 80% colonized and I basically neglected the prior Aurum tub.
I pulled a tray for the fifth flush and this one had some girth, so I left it.

Thanks!

The Azazel ms is ready to spawn. I'll do that in the morning.
Pulled 100ml (5-20ml syringes) of the Aurum "cluster" clone lc this afternoon. I'll prep some GLI Masters tomorrow and get them sterilized to receive some of it.
LC doesn't store well longterm in syringes so getting it converted to LI is a priority. The same has to be done with the "redcap". That will also be done tomorrow. It will be a busy day.
The boomer was printed and cloned today to another lc. I didn't do a weight, but I'm sure it was well over 25g.

Azazel ms spawned a week late. Oat spawn showed great recovery speed.
Super aggressive colonizer... Will not be surprised to see mycelium climbing the walls of the monotub.

1:2 spawn/sub ratio (4qt:8qt). Sterilized Coir w/one tablespoon ultrafine powdered, lab grade calcium carbonate added to the boiling water.

@Spawning

24 hours

48 hours

96 hours

Not much difference between day two and day four. Put it into fruiting conditions this morning after four days of recovery and colonizing the substrate.

Almost eight full days from spawning.

Mega Knottage

Once the pins set, I'm going to float the sub and drain the excess after 24 hours. Without it, I doubt that the first flush will reach its full potential.

for moisture retention?

I'm not sure how coir vs verm compares in terms of water retained and how well it is released.

:whathesaid:

Just seems like there isn't enough water to carry the first flush. It's only on the second, after soaking the sub, that it takes off.
Aborts and two inch mature fruits on the first flush was my experience on the last tub.
I'll do a two hour soak and drain the excess when the pins set. I'll get medium grade verm Friday for the next one to add to the coir.

With Azazel, I'll be looking for the forked gills to move on to F2. This is MS so I'll be cloning my selections.
It's at this stage that I start looking for cloning candidates. Taking photos helps. You can look over the images instead of peering inside repeatedly.
I have the first pin that developed on day twelve in the 9 o'clock position. That one would be a good choice if it turns out to have the forked gills that I'm after.
If you look at the 7 o'clock position from that one you'll see a pin with a nice yellow cap. That's the 1% you want to be looking out for when searching for new phenotypes to work with.
Clusters of primordia can also be identified at this stage for cloning a prolific fruiter. Go in with a set of sterilized tweezers and snag one if you're so inclined.

My Golden Halo shoebox.

Didn't see any gold spores but took prints from a few fruits.

I've been keeping up with the fine misting. Even so, I noticed this morning that the sub is starting to pull away from the sides in a couple spots.
I drenched it this morning.
I'll have two fruits to check for forked gills when I get home. Second flush will be more uniform.
