Peroxide in grain jars
    #2521041 - 04/03/04 08:20 AM (20 years, 1 month ago)

I was reading the bulk neglect report, and the author wrote about using peroxide in his grain jars to extra sterility. Well, obviously this works but my question is how do spores not get destroyed by peroxide?

your supposed to use colonized agar or liquid myc. (karo tek) to start peroxide soaked grain, i think.

No, in the bulk neglect report, the author writes about preasure cooking grain jars, then injecting 12cc's of peroxide, and shaking the jars. Then you're supposed to inoculate the jars. My question is why doesn't peroxide kill the mycelium once it's in the jars?

not sure about using multispore inoc. to start a peroxide grain jar, i thought the purpose of the peroxide was to prevent any spores from germinating.
the myc. produces enzymes that will break the H2O2 down in to H2O, spores on the other hand will not germinate on agar with peroxide added, so thats why i said use live myc. to inoculate peroxide grains.

Ok, the report did use agar wedges to inoculate the jars
