the original coffee Project is here... http://www.mycotopia.net/discus/messages/5/96317.html http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/2283143/an/0/page/0
Back in the day, i used to grow my mushrooms with coffee, but no need to get tequiqle too fast. Id just boil Birdseed, and be sure to boil the birdseed, with coffee and corn syrup. fuck that measuring bull shit, just go by instict. I always give up on adding coffee when i get to the casing theres really no point. If you want to try adding anything to your mushrooms try adding that sleep vitamin. The Molecular compounds are so similar to the Pisloben in mushrooms that is has to supercharge it.

Can rye berries be used for this tek instead wbs? If so, what was the colonization time and at what temp was it incubated?

You can soak your grains in a coffee + water solution, I wouldn't prep like this and only PC 80 mins. this is also really old and written by some random guy.

If you have to be careful not to use straight coffee then you have to take into consideration that some folks use two, three, maybe five times as much coffee in a pot as others might. One person's half and half mix, then, can be stronger than another's straight brew.
Beans vary widely in strength, too.

Hi all! New to growing myself but my mentor's tek also involves using WBS or Rye berries with coffee water. The methods are slightly different depending on which grain you use.
We save coffee grounds from that morning's pot of coffee. Fill container with cold water, add grounds. No specific measurements on this. It's not an exact measurement ever. Say 1/4 cup per gallon of water. Stir and let sit until water resembles coffee. Strain off coffee grounds before adding to grains.
If WBS use 2 cups seed per 1 cup coffee water. Soak the seed in coffee water that is cold. It will take approximately 30-60 mins to absorb.
If using Rye berries it's the same ratio of water to berries. Water is prepared the same way. This time the water and Rye berries are brought to a boil for approximately 15 mins until the water is absorbed. Cool until they can be handled easily.
Once they have absorbed the liquid they are put into filter bags and sealed. Pressure cooked for 90 mins.
This tek works incredibly well for us. We then inoculate, once colonized into a coco verm and coffee mix that we still play with ratios on. In this step we mix coco, verm, about 1/4 cup crushed oyster shell, 1/4 cup kelp meal, 1/4 cup coffee grounds in a 5 gallon bucket. We are experimenting with some nutrients and such here as well. Kelp meal is new and adds potassium which I've read good results on.

when will ppl stop using coffee??? it seems like everyone who uses it always ends up in here asking why their shit is contaminated. coffee does no good and only harm in my opinion. is a surefire way to end up just tossing your project in the trash. just leave it out all together and i promise you will have better results without it.

sigh... I guarantee that if somebody that grew up in Lawrence, Kansas uses a quarter of a cup of coffee in this recipe they will get very different results as opposed to somebody that drinks their coffee in Santa Cruz, CA. One uses stronger grounds and another may use more grounds, meaning those grounds have more left in them, unless you are one of those that used more water with those more grounds... then there's the differing strength in coffee beans...
one person could end up with ten times the active ingredients as another using a recipe spelled out like this meaning that people that do this are going to get widely varied results, if in fact coffee does anything and that seems to be a debate...

Stay away from coffee and stay away from incubators.

ok cheers. Well i dont know if you could recommend a way to get jars colonising as quick or near as quick as this? I did the pf tek and it worked absolutly brilliantly. But i dont want to do the same emthod again it takes far to long. Bare in mine i am by no means experianced. But i can follow instuctions well and the pf tek went ace 1st time so i feel like my sterile technique is ok. Hope that makes sense

If you want fast colonization, learn how to make LC. But for that you need to learn agar. And wait for agar to colonize, transfer, wait, transfer, wait, until it's clean. Then noc your LC and wait.
This hobby is not about impatience.

I'm sorry but this comment didn't get alot of interaction and it still has me choking on my cereal. I think it was ahead of its time. I don't normally like to add anything unnecessary but I felt in this case it was merited. Don't use coffee to grow mushrooms.
