Rehydrating a dry looking casing
    #2521179 - 04/03/04 09:20 AM (20 years, 17 days ago)

My friend has a casing right now that has pulled from its sides alot. He did not dunk the cakes before he cased them so he wants to inject some water into the sides of the casing via a syringe. Would this be adviseable? Would it help?

Usually a couple good misting with a spray bottle will moisten it up if the casing gets dry.

I've got a question concerning casing too....I have a casing that's got a bunch of mushrooms popping up. ( about 1" each ) But the casing layer is getting kind of dry, should I add water now - or wait until after the 1st flush and then rehydrate. I'm worried that if its gets too dry while they're trying to grow, it'll make them abort.

Thanks, but my question is the same as yours. There are shrooms already poppin' up but the casing seems dry also. I was thinking about just getting bottled water and pouring some along the edges of the casing where it is pulling away.

Yeah, I was thinking about doing something like that too. I mostly just want to make sure they've got enough water to finish maturing.

I water with a syringe. you can easily place the water exactly where you want without getting the fruits wet.
