First Time Grow, Signs towards success, rookie mistakes
    #25195770 - 05/10/18 02:45 PM (6 years, 8 months ago)

Greetings everyone and nice to meet You! First off I'm strictly mobile for the time being so apologies for lack of format.

This is my first serious attempt towards a grow. (Disregarding the attempt to cultivate a signal brf cake in my mom's closet in high school like the little shit I was, which justly failed as it should.) With the disposable income and willing-ness to invest, along with the space I've now started my first full hearted attempts towards cultivation. I headed in with a mindset of with multiple attempts going with similar conditions, I can have plenty to work and learn with. Though, rather ignorantly, I stocked and started up for 6 64 QT mono tub grows. Admittedly, some smaller size tubs would have been a financially smarter decision as far as possible loss goes, but in for a penny heh.

Here are a few shots the first tub that was spawned. This has taught me my first lesson which is to be much more measured with the holes for the mono. The ones I put into this tub are not correctly placed (none near the base for CO2 exchange for instance). This tub started as 2 pre-sterilized grain bags (3 lb. each) inoculated with 2cc (IIRC) of B+ MSS on 03/14/18. The incubation conditions weren't ideal for the longest (closet sitting around 71-73F degrees tops) so colonization seemed slow. (Also now no to not to spore > grain, and I'm sure there's plenty of naive impatience in time estimate) They were massaged and shook thoroughly 04/12/18, then spawned 04/20/18. Substrate was 650g coir, 1 QT Verm w/ ~4.25 QT boiling water (bucket tek w/ 5 gal Gatorade container). Mixed after an hour (admittedly not well enough) and left to sit over night. Incubation closet temps were brought to a more steady 74-76 st this point. Brought the tub out to fruiting area on 05/02/18. It has had some uneven pinning, the first pin popping up 5/05. That section is the larger clump you see. It's been slowing down as the others aren't starting to fully form. I made my first post tweaking on the surface condition and followed the advice to let it do it's thing. They're currently fruiting at 71-74F (Thanks ^.^) Still have yet to mist as the surface conditions seem to not need it, does this seem the case?

Now on to the other tubs. These first 2 pics are a tub spawned with the same substrate, but with 6 QT (2/3 - 3/4 full) popcorn jars (either GT or B+ MSS I've lost track w/out proper labeling, another lesson learned). These however are in unmodded tubs in which I did my liner very improperly. There were lips hanging over either side of the sun. I just cut them today (spawned to sub between 4/25 and 4/27) and there were large pools of water under them. Lesson #3. Question is will the mycellium recover from this? I've since introduced plenty of FAE, still have the lids slightly cracked. These shots are taken after being fanned and left with the lid cracked ~2 hrs. (Moved em out of the closet today)

This tub is the same conditions (no lip on the liner though). Question is whether this seems like a harmless knot or not? During incubation it grew as a really rhizo set of strands that were like rope with frays at the end. Hopefully doesn't look like trich? Worried may be more damaged mycellium due to drops of the lid and being further along than the others.

This last one is same as the other, large lip on the liner & large pool of water.

I really appreciate you guys for getting me so far along and having so many tools and teks to reference. Sorry for the long read but I thank ou for all input!
