Man, its been three months since my last post here. Discouraging to see how long its been but things are coming along okay. The existing room is all carpeted and painted and well furnished. Got one wall up and insulated and sheetmetalled on the room we're adding. The frames for the rest of the walls are all installed.

Its real slow going mostly because I can't get any assistance. Gotta install these big sheets of metal on top of a ladder, its impossible to do without somebody helping to hold it but the freaking ladyfriend was so scared of ladders that she refused to even climb up one until just last week. Then the rest of her free time is devoted to, well, nothing productive. Week after week month after month of her bullshitting with her friends when we should be finishing our place. A girls gotta have fun but its fucking mid september.

Wanted to have hot showers by fall but thats not going to happen. But all in all, its on its way. I'll get pics one of these days, theres plenty of before/after pics but I simply don't have them with me

Good job man! Doing work like that is very time consuming when its just one man.  Keep plugging away at it and you'll get there.

I recently had to hang a bunch of sheetrock by myself. Ended up needing 20 something 4x8 boards of sheetrock. Had to rebuild 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, half of a living room, and more. Anyway I invested in a collated screwgun and it made life so much easier. With one hand I could hold up the sheetrock and with the other hand I could screw everything in place.  If you have to hang sheetrock or siding or even more sheetmetal by yourself I would look into getting a collated screwgun because it makes life so much easier.

Thanks, felt a little childish for posting what I did but hey the internets for venting

Those screwguns do look quite nice, I'd never heard of them before. Going to do sheetrock interiors in the end, never done that before. I wonder if I could rent one, never rented a tool before.

Got one of the windows all framed out yesterday. The procedure for that one was seriously confusing me for no good reason, good to have it done.

We all have to vent sometimes.  Congrats on the window!

Doing serious work to a building is no joke.  It takes a long time.

I lived in a shed for a while, just used a bucket to pee in overnight. Maybe compost would help odor

Heating can be done using a diy rocket stove and a cob bench for a thermal mass.

woop woop, our second room is totally enclosed, insulated, two windows installed, and its staying nice and warm in the cold weather. Was a chilly couple days patching gaps in the walls/insulation, gives you a new appreciation for quality insulation. Doubled our square footage, very happy with it.

The only real problem at the moment is the outdoor faucet (yard hydrant) is leaking even when in the off position, with freezing weather on its way this is . I've tried adjusting the adjuster nut and tightening the other visible nuts and thats stopped the leak now. The water turns off when it should, but it doesn't act like its draining properly underground. (there's no vacuum sucking at your hand at the faucets mouth) I'm just hoping some plumber will see this and know what to say, because trying to find this information online has been a lost cause.

Going to wait on plumbing until next year, but I'm very much adjusted to the life now. Just heat up some water in the kettle and have the gf pour it over me for a shower, its fun. Our friends consistently turn up their noses at our lifestyle but they're just sheltered bitches.

Maybe retrofit a stainless steel colinder and make it feel like a shower head.
