Question about OUTGROW

They say their manure-based bulk substrate is sterilized. Why isnt it pasteurized? Does it make a difference?
i always used to buy a bug 25 pound bag of PASTEURIZED compost from a different site and they arent around anymore. Will outgrows "sterilized" bulk sub give me any problems with contams?

afaik Manure based bulk substrates should always be pasteurized, if spawned under un-sterile conditions. Using sterilized manure will likely contam. I guess when they say sterilized they mean pasteurized, you could ask that vendor.

if i crumble cakes into sterilized compost...is there that big of a chance it will contam over pasteurized compost?

Once i fucked up my pasturation of compost and ruined my grow to infection, trich i believe.
Its safer to just sterilize some coir with the bucket tek (boiling water).

bill oreilly should make his own bulk sub. ... i bet obama makes his own
all you need is 1brick of reptile bedding. 3.8qts boiling water and an insulted bucket with lid to hydrate.
buying premade sub?? ...forget about it

I looked at the cost. You better be getting some dealer shrooms if your paying that much for what is essentially free

For what it’s worth I used mycohaus ‘sterilized’ compost, which was 20 bucks for a 10lb bag. It never contam’d until I let it sit way past due, after several flushes.
That being said, after using coco coir, I don’t think I would use anything else but coir, it’s too cheap and easy. Easy AF btw.

U will likely infect your grow with pasturized compost. I recommend not using it.
But if u wanna learn the hard way, go for it.

If its sterilized, u are likely safer. If they actually sterilized it.
But trusting the company that made the compost is risky.

I thought pasteurized was a step above sterilization in terms of not getting contams..
Now i am confused

Well it depends on how well it was pasturized. Cause pasturization keeps the good bacteria and endospores behind. But if they messed up the pasturization even by a little, it could leave harmless endospores behind.
Which is why sterilizing is safer.

but sterilization removes some good bacteria that prevent the compost from becoming ridden with contams. Once that sterilized bag is opened in open air your fucked.
You're better off using coir OP. Its so easy, and you pasteurize while you hydrate it. Very contam resistant. Its not gonna contam unless their a contam in your spawn. and its cheaper.

I'm lazy and really want something I can just order and use right out of the bag. But yeah everyone says coir is the way..but it's not for me at the moment.
I like my compost
