I've often see that the mycelium digs deep down into the dirt and they emerge up when the time is comeing. If that is a migration, they do well.
Once I thougth I renew my alenii patch, I start to scrape off the top 5 cm, where there was no mycelium visible. After a meter long or so I regret that. The whole fluffy potting soil like bottom were full of fresh smelly white mycelium. I renewed the patch anyway. But this year I just refreshed with smaller particle sized woodchips, that is easily washed in to the bigger holes, and they act as a humidity barrier. We will see...
Also the garden giant (whats mycelium is the most that resembles me about woodlovers, but more agressive) have the ability to move horizontaly very fast. This year I need to consider that my front and backyard has to have at least 2 meter barrier line because of the woodlovers in the front yard and the SRA in the back yard. I don't wanna fight or loose my WL patches.
Last year the SRA were planted in a long woodchip bed near the fence, and some cucumber holding pale placed near, one and a half meter away. When SRA started to fruit and the Cucumbers are done, I pulled out that pale and the bottom were full of SRA mycelium, starting to colonise the woody pale. Summary, they can "migrate" long distances in the earth if it is a bit loose and have something to digest.
This year I covered the whole backyard with spent oyster straw, and cover veggies with them, but I spread out a good amount of the last years SRA bed under the straw. If they connects I will have a very big SRA field like 15 m X 17 m and we can see where they can migrate
Sorry I had time to write now

Moricz, awesome post! Very interesting.
When I put my outdoor beds down I will have barriers (not sure what to use yet). I don't think I have to worry about the mycelium going down because the top soil is very thin in my part of the world. A few inches down, it's hard clay.

Thanks for the tips. The pictured log is in the local wilderness, so no pasteurization. I also drilled holes in a number of stumps and put some grain spawn in each. All were hardwood, I believe, so at least I know not to expect too much.

Ovoid patch along a creek made from expanded mycelium last spring/summer. I tried to find somewhere to plant that looks like the east coast wild river flood habitat that they seem to thrive in.

Looks about right. And they do seem to be enjoying themselves.
Nice man.

There's a spot here I've been eyeing. Only problem is people hike in and around it hunting. Benefit is its hard to get to. Giant storm drain for the Willamette overflow. Tons of wood. It looks like it doesn't flood all the time but often enough. Wood like that collects up on the sides. I haven't made it far enough on private property to see where it ends. Probably down river. Finding spots closer to home has been hard.

Some West VA ovoid genetics still throwing out colorless fruits. They've gotta be leucostic right? Spores match, prints are all purple.
Here's some goodies mixed with spore slurry pickings. I got enough material to fill a Gatorade bottle and expanded that elbow deep to a bucket of wet leaves, worked it in to newish chips and dumped a bucket of hydrated new chips over it. It's near a sprinkler so we will see next year or the following.
Keep up the great work everyone!!!

My bags of supplemented woodchips with Psilo Cyan for my planter
Got Psilo Cyan, Ovoids and Subs on blanched cardboard too.. growth rate sucks... Flammulina Velutipes isn't much more aggressive on sterilized cardboard.

I cloned the white ones. I still have a few in a bag in the fridge for more plates. There's some that look like libs. It's nuts. I
I've been printing them. Secure PM me a shipping address and I'll get them out to you both (prints not mushrooms, lol).

Wish I have more kinds of woodlover mushroom prints to grow...avidpicker did sent me a ovoid print from his home grown ovoid tubs...unfortunately the print never make it to my mailbox...I have psilocybe allenii(almost ready to go outside)and psilocybe subaeruginosa... Subs are not doing good they are in ceramic pot (outside, garden shade) with wood chips but the mycelium is very slow.
