I would just go ahead and dub it. They are extra soggy after a dunk and the proper FAE will be needed.

Lol yea they definitely do seem quite soggy so I'll prob go with the dub tub then.

How long after a dunk do you usually start misting and stuff again? Or do you usually not even need to mist after the dunk?

I'd give it at least 24 hrs or so.  then start lightly misting.  And honestly it probably doesn't matter either way if you put the lid on or dub tub.

i usually let my subs sit for a couple days before dunking them so that they pin pretty quickly after dunking.

Mine has a ton of pins on it already that have just been sitting there, but it seems to have lost some weight and has shrunken from the sides. Would letting it sit for a couple days still be beneficial you think?

The pins look healthy and through searching the forums ive come to the conclusion that they are the next flushes pins waiting for their chance at nutrient/water, and that its ok to dunk with them. Would you agree?

Alright cool ill wait a day and then check the surface then. What do you look for when misting after a dunk? I find that it gets very hard to see beads of moisture after dunking.

Alright sweet, thanks man. Ive got one last question. When I dunk I usually fill the shoebox with water, and place another shoebox about half filled with water ontop of the sub to weigh it down. Do you think that the other shoebox sitting on top is damaging to the pins? Sometimes I can see a few of the pins being push on by the top shoebox. It's been tough finding something to weigh it down with and that's what I ended up coming up with.

Personally id probably still try to maintain surface conditions. Ive had subs that were shrunken from pretty much every side of the tub after the first flush, and i was still able to get barely any side pins during the second flush through proper surface conditions.

Gave it a generous misting and got the surface looking good, woke up to pins all over the top! Thanks

Few months ago, I tried some oysters in a shoebox, as expected it didnt work out that well so it was tossed outside. I think this is flush 5 or 6 now, still kicking some goodies out.:dancer:

at some point youll figure out almost the exact amount of water needed to rehydrate the sub.
ive never fully 'dunked' a shoebox substrate. its so small to begin with and about 1/2 - 3/4cup of water usually does the trick:thumbup:

and you shouldnt need to mist. the dunk (or bottom water) fully hydrates the sub. partially snapped on lid/dub and let it evaporate.
as with flush 1, you really shouldnt need to mist if you have the sub properly hydrated after the watering. ...if its perfect.

just a tip:awegroove:

ah just some sex in a shoebox.

I had a total of 6 tubs and two are doing great to my knowledge but the other 4 are early pinning I'm pretty sure so that is not a good sign. I put them in a different room for now.

Oh wow thats good to know. So far ive dunked pretty much all of my boxes. Im gonna be harvesting a few later so ill probably try out just adding 3/4 cup water.

How long do you usually let the water sit before pouring any excess out? And do you think the surface gets hydrated just as well using this method as with a full dunk, Since the surface wont be submurged?

if you use the correct amount of water you dont pour any off. sometimes ya do cause every sub is different.
but i just rehydrate and cover back up just like when it was first made. you dont mist the second you spawn so i usually dont after bottom watering/dunk.

usually after the 1st flush the sub is kinda beat up anyway so fuck being perfect with surface conditions. thats just me tho.

Got a nice sidepin cluster going on!

Some close ups of some side pins

And the top has filled out nicely after I gave it a misting last night and once this morning

Thanks everyone for the help so far. It's so exciting. :crazy2:

I just tried it out with a tub and after only a little over 1/4 cup of water, the sides were completely filled and the sub felt fairly heavy again. Do you let water go over the surface as well or do you usually stop before it spills over onto the top?

Do you gauge how much water to put in by feeling the weight of the tub? Should i just add water until it feels close to how it did when i spawned it?
