So i noticed the climbing threads around where from a few years back and wanted to start something new to discuss anything climbing.
Gonna start this thing of with a discussion on different styles, I've been doing mainly sport and bouldering for a few years and just curious on any multipitch experiences you got to share. How does the motivation behind the climb change when you change styles, with sport climbing its all mental exertion and physical going right to the edge and over your limits but i'm guessing multipitch is a whole different story, how about ice? Anyone tried?

I mostly trad climb and boulder, got a lot of multipitch and some big wall experience. Trad for me is 95% mental, I just have to feel soooo solid and mentally sharp to onsight trad, but to me it is the most rewarding. Moderate multipitch trad is my absolute favorite. Big exposure, beautiful places, no people. I find climbing, Multipitch and big wall inparticular to be very psychedelic. You have to be a little crazy or willing to push it to the edge to believe you can climb some of those faces. You have to embrace the unknown and keep a cool head in tough even dangerous situations. Climbing and Tripping a great practice for each other! Anyway glad to hear from another climber Have Fun!

I picked up climbing little over a year ago, started in the gym and have done some toprope and bouldering outside.
Bouldering for me often is about overcoming fear. I've been working on some highballs, that I've yet to overcome the fear of falling when making the move. Its also about trust, feeling that my spotters have got me and will keep me safe.
I really love the sport, unfortunately COVID closed my gym and also some of the best climbing spots nearby. However, I look forward to improve in the future and just keep meeting other climbers. One of the reasons I picked it up is due to the welcoming community, I've met some of the kindest people at my gym.

No wonder, bouldering is scaaaaary shit brother. I somehow feel safer with a rope attached and 10m to the last clip that 4m from the ground on a boulder problem, I'm always thinking how hard the ground is...
Good to hear the community is as well tempered in other places, i really think it groups people with certain features together.
