Ive tried rye,wbs,millet, and popcorn.
In my limited experience I've had the best luck with popcorn.
Most likely because I use it more then anything.

I like to spread it out and run a fan on it for 10-20 min. The grain should be dry on the outside before loading into jars.

Look for milo (sorghum) seeds, they work the best for me, the moisture content comes out perfect each time after a 24 hour soak and about 10 minutes boiling on the stove

Any chance I could dry out the grains more and resterilize? You're so gleeful over my mistake that I want to inoculate these anyway for a chance to prove u wrong bodhi

It would be a lot easier to just start new grains wouldn't it? I think so.
No they're not trickier than any other grain. All grain is a matter of learning to do it right. None are hard or finicky. Hydrate them. Stop before too many burst. Then don't load into jars until they're dry on the outside.
Wheat, rye, oats all a little different all a lot easy.

It would be easier, but not cheaper.
This is my first time using this grain. When one wheat tek says to boil the grain for 10 minutes, & another says to simmer for 45; while one says that you only need to strain 10 minutes and another says to dry them on a towel with a fan for an hour, you can understand how saying "do it right lol" isn't very helpful

He gave you all the information you really need without holding your hand and personally helping you hydrate your grains and load them into jars, it is the most helpful really. You also need to understand that TC's are taking time out of their personal lives to help us and often have to deal with the same questions time and time again. So Simple answers that allow you to do more research and learn for yourself really is the most helpful for you in the long run.

Those times are what people use. On every frozen meal you've ever bought it says cooking times will vary. Same with grains. Cook em till theyre right, dry them till they're right.
Hydrate them thru and thru, cut one in half if you need to. Use the fingernail test
Then make sure they're dry enough to pass the toilet paper test before sterilization.
You gotta do some relying on what is happening in your first person experience. Like you don't drive a car with a user manual you don't prepare grains with a tek. You use your senses.
You knew they were too wet that's why you asked in the first place is my guess.

I also dig sorghum after trying it for the first time. Very clean looking, and fast growth for my African transkei. I'm tempted to try it in the place of BRF in cakes as well, since I always have sorghum flour on hand. Smells way better than cooking wheat or rye in my opinion.
