Slow colonization of top layer in my shoebox

So I have a shoebox that I spawned a week ago. In my last shoebox I forgot the top layer and it turned out okay. This time I used a top layer but it has been colonizing very slowly. The bulk sub underneath is 100% but i have not seen much growth on the top layer for the past 3 days. Should I wait longer or should I start misting now? Is it normal for top layers to not get fully colonized?

I would leave the lid on and wouldn't mist.
Was your top layer field capacity?
Sometimes the bottom of the cooler of coir has more water and I need to throw in some verm to get it back to field capacity.
I feel like more verm on the top layer can't hurt either.
Also if the top layer was too thick it can be a struggle for the myc to break through. I always do basically enough to cover the top.
Looks ok so far to me, it's not moist?

I have had the lid on for a week. Just opened to take this pictures because too much condensation on the walls. all my sub was made to field capacity so i know its not too wet. The top layer is really quite thin so idk why it is taking so long. I'm probably just being paranoid but i wanted to get some opinions as this is only my second shoebox attempt, thanks.

You're supposed to mix it all up and not add anything.
OP, your sub looks perfect. Fruit it now.

Wasn't trying to be a dick, but I just mix that wet shit in with the other coir and verm and it's never an issue.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I will give it a little longer and then start misting.

Water travels to the bottom by way of gravity. All that needs to be done is to simply mix it back up so water becomes evenly distributed again. I do 6 bricks of coir/verm inside of a tote at once, and usually have to mix it up 2-3 times to redistribute water during a bulk run before using up all the coir.

So you are saying I should just mix the top layer in with the rest of the sub to redistribute the water? My sub is already at 100% underneath the top layer. Wouldn't mixing it up again now be a bad idea?

Yes it would be. I thought we were talking about spawning to bulk here. Reading comprehension fail on my part.
