Im looking to purify or at least cleanse the air in my grow room?

I was going to buy a generica Home-pedic type cheesy plastic air cleaner from walmart, not Hepa, nothing special, its cheap and filters the air through a normal non Hepa filter, and I was going to keep it running 24/7, just to help keep the air cleaner in my area.
But I came across this "air purifier" and "air ionizer". Its a good price, and industrial strength and does rooms up to 3500 sq ft, of which mine is obviously not. It says it "cleans" mold and mildew. But after reading the ad a little more carefully, it just says it creates alot of ions, and covers up odors. It doesnt say that it takes "bad air" and purifies it and spits out "good clean air", free of mold and mild, etc.
Here is the link, can someone take a look at it for me please, I found it on ebay this morning:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-COMMERCIAL-INDUSTRIAL-OZONE-GENERATOR-PRO-AIR-PURIFIER-MOLD-MILDEW-ODOR-/160781570391?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item256f541157
It costs $113 with free shipping, and its not hepa from what I can see. Does anyone have any extensive expierence with air cleaners that can comment on this? Is this a good model to get to keep the air REALLY clean in and around my project area, or should I get something with a helpa filter that doesnt use ions to just cover up odors, which is what im GUESSING this industrial strength ionizer does. But I remember those air ionizers that Sharper Image sells being really popular, my parents have two and they swear by them, however it could just be a placebo effect.
Any thoughts, and if recommending a specific model can you please link me to it? Thanks.

First. Boycott the chinese imports at shitmart. They're just designed to separate you from your money with zero benefit other than killing US and European jobs.
Second, there is absolutely no reason to filter/purify air in a fruiting environment. You want clean air for inoculations. In the fruiting stage, it doesn't matter. RR

Ok, understood. Then this filter that im now looking at instead of the first one, may help in my future project, which im going to move the jars from inside the fridge incubator, to a shelf in the closet, as a few people have been saying to do. So im going to give it a try and see what, if any difference I can notice.
To keep the air fresh, what do you think of this model, which actually moves air through the device, scrubs it clean, destroys mold and mildew and bacteria (so it claims), and then spits out the clean air:
Oreck XL HEPA Filtration Air Purifier Model AIRHGQ W/Remote
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Oreck-XL-HEPA-Filtration-Air-Purifier-Model-AIRHGQ-W-Remote-Free-Shipping-/290787285549?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43b445da2d
Good price too, its used and needs a new filter, but thats it, only $55 with free shipping. Im very suspicious of the claims of these Ion/Ozone air cleaners, and the newer UV Light air purifiers. I much prefer the method of moving air through a hepa filter. At least that makes more sense to me then magical ions, ozone, and UV light.
Do you use one at all, or do you skip the air cleaners all together?

Check out http://www.top-air-purifier-reviews.org/
They have videos where they test air purifiers using 'air particle meters'. Very interesting. A few months ago I bought one of these for my home and I don't think it is doing much of anything beneficial. I highly doubt it would pass one of those 'air particle tests' I feel like a shmuck now for having bought it. I did get it for 1/2 off though so I only feel like half a shmuck.
I do like the ozone and ionizer though. It does remove odors pretty quickly, smells wonderful, but I don't think it removes as many particles from the air as I would like.

Thanks for that info, very interesting. I clicked on the link to see the one you purchased, and that same model is all over ebay for cheap money, meaning its probably cheap chinese junk, like most of ebay now a days. One statement i seen on the site that sells and makes the one you bought, the Alpine Air Cleaner model, says the following:
Kills mold, mildew, fungi, bacteria, and viruses.
I somehow find that very suspect for models not using a Hepa filter. And if I was you, I would do some research on those ion/ozone/UV light air cleaners that are out now, some dirt cheap, some very expensive. My parents have two, and even though they do make the air around them smell good and clean, I dont think they kill any mold, mildew, bacteria or viruses.
But what im wondering is...Your Alpine Air model, along with many others without a Hepa filter make the claim of killing mold, mildew, fungi, bacteria, and viruses, so does that mean if I put one of these in the same room as my fruiting mushrooms in a SGFC, will this Alpine Air kill my mushrooms? It says it kills fungi.
Thank you for that review site, im going to check it out and see if theres any real benefit to using the ion/ozone/UV light air cleaners, I dont think there is, or if an old fashioned air cleaner with hepa filter is the way to go, like that Oreck XL air purifier model that if ound on ebay.

The one I bought has what they call HEPA, it has 3 ionizing plates, UV and ozone generator. I like the smell, but I kinda doubt it is all that high performance as they advertize.
Polishing the air sure couldn't hurt. It should keep down on dust & stuff like that.

I know this is a old thread but... that smell is ozone and breathing in ozone is bad for you, it does kill spores though. An ionizer just causes stuff in the air fall to the ground.
