question about Mycelium growth

Hello, i'm new here and english is not my native language so some words might be tricky for me, but here is the thing: I have cooked millet in a jar with a little whole on the top, through which i inject the spores with water. My question is if after injecting the spores i should cover the whole with scotch tape or just leave it as it is. Thank you very much, and good life to all!

Do you not have some sort of filtration in the hole ...?
It should have something that allows gas exchange but prevents contams entering
Someone please recommend what he can cover the hole with at this point or if there was nothing there during this entire time it may be too late and be contaminated.
I stuff mine with pollyfill but there are many options I'm not really familiar with

I was getting the same impression enkido. I'm not so sure this'll help but...
If you have a Jar of Millet with just a hole, you're gonna want to fill hole with poly fill; or cover it with Tyvek held by micropore tape.
Cover with foil.
Sterilize it.
inoculate by remove lid in sab.
BUT, Spore onto Grains sucks. You'd be better off Spore>agar till clean>Grain Jar; or Making BRF Jars to shoot spores straight.

Did you sterilized the jar in the pressure cooker? Because only cooking will not kill the contaminants, and you can lose everything. As they said, the hole should be covered with something that allows air to exchange with the ambient, but don’t allow other spores or bacteria to find their way into your jar.
English is not my first language too, and I think you write im a very intelligible way, no need to apologize!

Really nice to see that people are finally catching on to the fact that spores to grain sucks!

I could have sworn quite a few experienced users reporting that they have done it with fine success many times.
I myself haven't had good luck with it but others may get lucky like those who do

I think it used to be more common, but between agar and brf it's just not as efficient or popular.
I can remember old grow kits that had a swab tied off above some grains in a bag and you'd just drop'em down to start colonizing.
