One turned out to be contaminated, both are growing slightly odd...

Hey guys, I posted a week ago to get some expert opinions on whether or not I had a contamination issue on my McKenna kit here: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/25138416
After doing a cue tip test I was fairly confident that it was just mycellium bruising. However, unfortunately it has since turned out to be mould of some kind (I am assuming cobweb). The distributors confirmed that they have had a number of issues with that particular batch, which is a shame because I wanted to take a spore print. Despite the contamination, shrooms have still developed, mostly under the cake, on the inside of the tub. I'm assuming that none of these should be ingested though, and should be disposed of...
My Golden Teachers kit is plodding along nicely. Growing slower than the contaminated McKennas, and mostly around the side/also underneath the cake. They have white stuff on there caps, but I'm hoping this is regular and not mould of any kind.
Any comments would be warmly welcomed

(I'm having trouble with both of the uploaders unfortunately, so have put them on Imgur, which has the added benefit of being able to put annotations under each individual picture anyway!)

Ok so having read some other posts, I'm thinking the humidity is too high, and that may be why there are growing slowly, and also have mycellium on the caps. Although I'd be lying if I said this wasn't confusing me, as I was under the impression that shrooms needed a high humidity, and was instructed by the distributors to not open the bag and keep them sealed in their environment, despite the tiny little air holes being of basically no use...

Oh gosh, or perhaps that isn't contamination and is actually aerial mycellium. This is a very overwhelming pool of knowledge

those look fine. they arnt growing in the center because those kits suck..the white stuff is normal.
instead of the choke bag it comes with id rather find a spare storage tote. put the kit inside(no bag) and flip the totes lid.
or poke some holes in the bag. air=shrooms.
mist when needed

That's something I can sort within the next day or so, thank you!
"flip the totes lid" and I missing something here, or is this just to allow air flow in and out?
One thing I'm curious about is likelihood of contaminating them by exposing them to un-sterile environments.
Thanks so much for your advice, man!

How it should & shouldn't look - NEW CULTIVATORS GUIDE Check out how things should and shouldn't look.
High humidity is good, not so good if you compromise FAE to get a high RH. My only concern about your pictures is seeing your shrooms close to that filthy carpet.
The spare storage tote seems like a great idea.

That is a fabulous link, cheers for that! Can't believe I didn't stumble across it myself :/
So FAE is more important than the humidity per se. I realise I'm a complete novice, but how do you get a high humidity if your FAE is high? I've grown cannabis multiple times, for years, and the humidity stays high then despite the negative pressure due to the high number of plants... Is it basically the same principle?
Yeah, I'm gonna get the tote sorted ASAP. Someone advised my to perhaps take them out of the small tubs they come in and stick them on some tin foil and just birth the whole cake, so I'm thinking I'll do that, and then put them in the tote.
Yeah, dirty carpet, lovely shrooms. Novice move D:

I wouldn't say one is more important than the other. FAE is a major pinning trigger. But without H2O there wouldn't be any shroom either.

mist when needed
Flip the totes lids = FAE The evaporation from the cakes will keep RH high inside the totes. That evaporation is also a major pinning trigger.
Mist when needed = Replenish lost H2O and allow some more evaporation
High FAE doesn't mean putting your cakes in front of a fan. An upside down lid is OK.

Perfect, you couldn't be any more clear, thank you. I do apologise for asking such basic questions!
I have taken everything on board, spent the evening sterilising and setting up, and this is the operation as it stands...

What is your room temperature? I never used a heat mat and I think most experienced growers will advice against one.

Quite cold. Usually between 14°C - 17°C. The last few days have been very hot, mid 20's, and I subsequently turned the mat off. It's currently 20°C in here, I've got it on because the likelihood of a temperature drop throughout the night is usual for where I live, and when I bought the kits the temps were below 10°C.
If it's not advised though, I'll likely turn it off and just make sure to keep the room heated to a consistent temperature as much as possible.
