Cobweb or other contamination?
    #25157471 - 04/22/18 11:33 AM (6 years, 8 months ago)

So I am growing psilocybin McKennaii from a grow kit (I already know what people are going to say about grow kits, but it's my only option at the moment) and I am a little over 2 weeks in. A few days ago shrooms started pinning, and now a white fluffy substance has appeared.  I am not sure if it is just mycelium, if its cobweb mold or something else entirely.  If it is contaminated, do I have to throw the whole thing away? Might it be salvageable?

As a sidenote, I've noticed some of the shrooms have started growing "upside down" in that it appears that the caps are at the bottoms. What's the deal with that?

Upside down fruits are a mutation. So thats fun.
Also it looks like cob web to me due to the light/fluffy/airy look but id let a TC verify first.

And cob web is maintainable.

Thanks for your input! Two questions:
1) How is it maintainable?
2) (Because I'm a noob here) what is a TC?

TC= trusted cultivator. They know their shit.

Usual protocol is to put some 3% hydrogen peroxide on it. But it is toxic to the mushrooms as well.
That'll simmer down the cobweb but itll come back.
People also pour salt/salt paste over the effected area to slow it down.

Either way id let a TC verify everything first in case I'm wrong (it happens)

I wouldn't be too worried right now. Looks fairly clean to me. The fluffy pieces are just myc.

Damn that mycelium, impersonating Cobweb.
They can look so damn similar.
