Aerial mycelium in shoeboxes
    #25154288 - 04/20/18 10:00 PM (6 years, 8 months ago)

Hey everyone, hope all you guys and gals are doing well.

I've got my first four shoeboxes going, which we spawned about three or four days ago.  Two of the boxes are colonizing slowly, while the other two have blasted off.  The substrate consisted solely of coco coir and vermiculite, with a thin top layer added at spawning.  The two boxes that have blown up are almost completely colonized through the top layer, but with ALOT of aerial mycelium.  After reading some, I came to realize (and I hope this is correct,) that the myc is looking for more fresh air.  So, I flippedthe lid, and misted lightly.

Did I do the right thing?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Sometimes myc can look kinda aerial when breaking through the top layer.

Pictures would help. Sounds like you'll be fine.
