I also fold my prints. I find it super convenient. I just quickly sterilize the foil over a candle flame.

Also, a good life hack: You don't have to let prints dry if you cut the stem a bit lower so that the cap can actually stand on it while printing. Another advantage is that the cap is not touching the foil while printing. That's how I like it personally.

I've only done the single print under a jar with its own foil way, but I don't see a problem with mh420s way. Seems to be an efficient way to bulk harvest prints to me!

There is a notable common denominator of all the ones naysaying your print taking method, and that is that none of the have flowhoods.  :smirk:

That's why they can relate so well to the way eatyualive does prints, and repeatedly site his method as the seemingly end all, be all way to take prints.

Now, as far as using aluminum foil as a medium for taking prints upon is concerned, aluminum foil is made in a very high speed, high heat process, so it's very clean straight out of the box, thus there is no need to sanitize it before printing.  Just be sure to tear a couple of feet off of roll first, and use that for general kitchen purposes.

Good point on just tearing a few feet off and set to the side.

A common to all the 'yaysayers' is they all share a banner, what's the point? FH or not, standards should be maintained with printing imo. Dropping prints into bags is not how you package them for microscopy.

I was shocked and sketched out when I got a certain print in a little pink baggie. That's not how I want legal spores mailed to me.

Shocked and sketched out? Hyperbole much?

When you giveaway 100 prints like ham did you dont have time to wrap everyone
of them. Ive seen hundreds of lgt grows posted because of all the prints ham sent out. Doesnt seem like the prints were that compromised

Sounds like you are nitpicking cause you dont like the tribe. Just let the giveaway
commence and quit being a debbie downer.

If you stack prints on top of rach other its kinda hard not to touch the print itself and grab it only by its edges when cutting it and then packing into a baggie. For most im sure they can clean that shit up but lets not assume everyone is going to agar. Maybe they make a spore syringe and in that case cleaner the better.

I see that as their problem as I stated how the prints being given away are made, and intended for agar. This idea of standards has some reason, but it a bit over done. If a print is easily cleaned in 3-4 transfers that is very reasonable, and was probably clean enough, so long as no mold present, to make a syringe. I have made syringes out of my own prints and open air inoculated 17 pint cakes. I lost only 1 to mold. I'm not saying care should not be taken, but if enough care is taken in certain places other places offer little enough risk to be ok.

M.B. I can get your point about it not looking like it is for microscopy when put in a bag.

The way the bags are made though the inside should be sterile or damn near it, so that is nothing to really be concerned with.

As for cutting apart, if  person has gloves on and wipes down with alcohol 1st, they will be a low vector for contam, specially if you take care when cutting apart.

I hear what a lot of you guys are staying. If these were exotic, like pans or mexicana, I would put more care into those, but for these this works. I don't want to give some noob a dirty as fuck print, but it doesn't hurt for them to have to earn their culture through a couple transfers. This helps them to learn their way around agar. It may not be perfect nor ideal, but they are clean enough to get a  culture in a couple transfers and most noobs will be very happy to have them.
