Liquid culture vs. Spore water inoculate grain spawn

Is doing the extra step of making a liquid culture more foolproof than creating a batch of spore water from a print? It seems like it would but I'm not seeing a lot of people doing it. If the spores from a print are contaminated, I won't be able to see the contamination in the spore water but I would in a liquid culture. Another step to ensure purity would to go from the print to agar and then agar to live culture liquid. Why don't more people do this?

Your best bet is to put the spores to Agar, then if it's clean Agar to LC.

Making LC from spores is a horrible idea with a poor success rate. lC is faster but you need agar skills to pull of reliable LC

spores need cleaning with agar. From clean agar you can do a million things like agar to grain, liauid inoculant, liquid culture. But it all starts with CLEAN agar cultures.

That makes sense. Looks like I need to practice up on my agar skills.

a LOT of us do it. spores to agar to agar... until it's clean. clean agar to lc. lc to grains once it's colonized nicely.
