Trich in a LC sloution?

Can Trich grow in a LC solution? I have some 600 ml jars and some look really strange but I don't have a clue about LC. I want to learn all I can about LC solutions can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks

Yes, trich and other contaminates can grow in your LC.
If you put spores to LC you most likely have a contamination.
If you want to attempt LC you should look into Agar first.

Thanks, I did my 600 ml LC jars from agar. Some of them look very healthy and I can see the mycelium leaving the agar. Do you know how long it takes for the LC to reach full maturity and strength and how long will it survive in the jar?

Thanks, could you tell me how long is the average maturation time for a 600 ml LC jar?

Thanks hamloaf, good article I put it in my favorites. I saw before that you had made a 600 ml Karo LC jar, I was just wondering how long it took to reach full strength and how long does it last etc... I made the same 600 ml Karo jars that you did and they look great I can see the mycelium leaving the agar nice and clear! But these are my fist LC jars and I don't know when to pull the trigger on using them. Any thoughts?

Hey, I haven't made a karo LC in about ten years, and have not posted any of those LCs from those days here. Any content pertaining to LCs posted to Shroomery by me have been malt extract, or grain water LC.
There are several factors, and several ways to go about colonizing an LC which determine when to pull trigger on LC. Mainly, it is up to you depending on how much inoculum is needed. Once culture begins to colonize LC it's full strength, but will hardly be enough to fill one syringe.

Sorry my mistake. What ratio do you do on your gain water LC? Straight grain water or do you cut it with water or strain it? Just trying to find the best LC solution.
Thanks for the advice and your time

Most grain choices used for spawning material make a very opaque media broth when used straight, so in order to keep track of culture growth inside of media it's wise to cut them with water. Personally, I cut my grain water media broths at a 1:4 ratio. Higher, and lower ratios can be used, so play around with them, and see what ratio(s) work/you like best.
