So I have this casing going on for about a week now and over night it started to get a browning around it's edges. Is this mold and if so can I save any of it by getting the non effected part.

Thanks for the quick response, well first timer here and the information on this was not so well or my research for a month wasn't as thought out. As far as the fruiting chamber i didnt have one. I actually had a lid on this bad boy the entire time till last night when i took it off and placed a huge clear container over it with vents so the mushroom wouldnt be pressing against. I have the material for a shotgun chamber if im saying that right.

When you say you have a casing, you mean you spawned your grains or your BRF cakes to bulk and then applied a casing layer or you call the act of spawning to bulk "a casing"? I ask because usually shrooms appear a little earlier after applying the casing layer. But that could be for not having FAE. The point of having a casing layer over your substrate is to keep it hydrated, a casing that looks like the landscape of the arizona desert won't do any good. Some heavy misting should solve that problem.
Regarding a fruiting chamber, what is the container you use for your bulk substrate? Does it have a twin brother? If so, put the twin on top of this one and you have a Dub-Tub.
The images are from Munchauzen I saw them on this post

I have been referring casing as the act of making a bulk in a container instead off a BRF cake in a SGFC tube. But I recently found information that's not to old giving more details on how to do the casing portion better and hydrated. I will look into this dubtub method instead of a bunch of perlite in a SGFC.

I read some people like to do a late casing. An example is putting the casing layer after the first flush. That would be a super late casing. If I find I can't keep condition right during fruiting then I apply a light casing layer.
This is the standard casing tek.
