Urgent ID request (Possible Panaeolus)
    #25146852 - 04/17/18 11:56 PM (3 years, 23 days ago)

Hi there, Need an urgent ID on these. I said to the person I was picking with that they could possibly be Panaeolus Cyanescens, but not to eat them as a precaution. So my fellow picker decided he was in the clear and ate a couple anyway. Just want to make sure I don't have to call poison control.

Found in west Auckland, New Zealand. Its mid to late autumn.

Environment: Pasture, likely with alot of animal droppings.

Weather: 17 degrees average, dropping low at nights.

Spore Print: Black/Purple

Bruising: None on stipe, if any it is a dark brown. On the cap there is mild blueing, but its closer to grey.

Any help is appreciated.
Cheers.

Definetly a panaeolus species. Not panaeolus cyanescens though. If it were a cyan it would be blue. I cant tell you the exact species but i can tell you it aint a pan cyan

thanks that was what I suspected. After a bit of erm... human testing, it turns out they are indeed active.

the mushroom in your hand and pics is not active.

if that is the only species that was eaten, then any effects are placebo.

Oh, I am mistaken then.
Presumably a number of Panaeolus species were picked, there are quite a few in my area.
I didn't eat any, so if the bunch we picked had any true effect is anecdotal.
I'm only really used to ID'ing woodlovers like p.subaeruginosa, so these are new to me.

Thank you for your help
