Contamination issues... what went wrong?

So,.... I've had to toss like a half dozen jars cuz I spotted some green mold going on. Just trying to figure out what went different between this batch and the last batch. Last batch of penis envy I have 100% success rate on all jars this time I've got 6 mouldy's and like 6 or 7 complete stalls that will probably have to go as well....
I had some issues and had to relocate my jars to another house and then back. Also I noticed what seemed like a significant amount of the dry verm flayer falling down the sides of the jars. Also it seems like the mycelium is just generally a little slower going this time and have multiple jars where it only kicked in at one or two of the inoculation points.
My inoculation protocol was the same as last time with still air box and following the same precautionary steps.
questions...
1. What can I do to keep that dry verm layer from falling down the sides? I don't want to pack the jars too tightly. The cake seems to shrink up a little bit and then the verm falls down the sides.
2. Is this somewhat possibly related to the multispore inoculation? Last time I had 100% success rate and all jars were fully colonized within 3 weeks some as early as two weeks. But this time a lot slower.
3. I'm trying to move to agar with this run... mostly to start avoiding the purchase of syringes but was wondering if this would also create less contamination?
....THANKS FOR FEEDBACK!..

1. Don't pick em up and move em around 2. Spores are roll of dice 3. No and yes. It definitely gives you the ability to avoid it but simply using agar doesn't make you good. You gotta get good at it

Syringes I bought had a high rate of failure, but syringes I make from my own prints rarely fail. Agar is fun to.

I was wondering if the size of vermiculite I'm using for the dry layer has some influence? I think last time I ground up verm and put the layer on and this time I just went with the more coarse layer as it came out of the bag.
Do you think the ground vermiculite creates a more solid and cohesive layer to protect against contaminants? I guess my thinking was that the more coarse vermiculite would be less likely to fall down the sides but it definitely still happened.
I'll definitely try to not move them around as much on this next run. I tend to like to go in there and look for growth and contaminants but I'll definitely try to keep it to a minimum and be very gentle.

... definitely trying to do agar on this next run and subsequent runs. I'm tired of buying syringes that's for sure. I'm down to invest in Petri dishes or whatever. I was looking at the EZ tek but I figure I'll just throw a couple bucks at the appropriate materials.
If you have a couple links on Amazon or whatever for appropriate size dishes and agar hit me up

Even without agar you can take spore prints on foil then put the spores into syringe. There's atleast one spore printing tek in bod's tek list.
For agar, I just use knock off twist-n-locks since they're reusable. and sometimes other PP5 containers like the ones below. All based off Pasty Plates, also in bod's tek list. Water, Agar, Potato Flakes. EZ AF

I've done brf cakes with a verm layer on top and didnt have any issues with it falling down into the cake. I'd saying getting jostled around would do it it. Plus acting a as a contam barrier I think the moving them around did you in. I just started messing with agar and there is definitely a little learning curve, but I'm not starting with clean culture so its made it a little tough. Good luck duderino!
