Clarification on humidity and pinning
    #25142455 - 04/16/18 02:00 AM (6 years, 8 months ago)

So I have a terrarium of hpcvg trays going and I’m just seeing if my numbers are right. So if a tray is uncased I should try to keep the Rh around 100% and once the pins are to a certain size to decrease the humidity to around 90%. If the trays are cased it adds to the humidity on the surface so I should try to keep the Rh between 90-95ish% for pinning then kick it down to 85-90% once they’re really growing. This sound about right?
And when it comes misting the tray from what I can understand misting is just to replace any moisture that may have evaporated from the casing, surface of the soil, and and/or the mushrooms themselves. Aren’t trays supposed to have all the water they’ll need internally or does it really need external misting to supplement the growth? My humidity, temp sensors are all automated so I’m thinking if trays are cased I’d only have to spot check them every few days or if it was uncased a daily misting to get that glistening on the surface seems sufficient.

I wouldn't measure humidity at all. Fresh air is far more important. The surface of your substrate too.

They get penty or fresh air, I live in a dryer climate so I’m just being careful. So I just want that glistening dew on the surface until things are pinning?
