There is a hinge but its easy to remove. I trimmed 60 of them in what felt like 10 min. Just use a fresh razor and a bit of caution and they come off easily.

First run with these containers. I like this result. Glass smooth agar surface. And all 60 fit into a container that was barely big enough for 20 of the old style plates. And im sure that my sterilizer could hold another 60 before its full.

Fuckin rights man they look legit.

I think so too. I like to put large sheets of foil between the tiers of plates, it helps for building the next layer of plates. It's somewhere in the OP, since they can't be stacked normally in the PC because they get stuck to each other by suction.

I saw the foil layers. Lol I was hit with laziness today. Next time I will pre cut some foil and layer it on top. I'm gonna go thru these fast as I'm starting another round of isolate work. Checked on my plates this morning and there's some growth showing. I will update on the results of the growth with these new plates.

These containers are horrible

Yea man, I was thinking the same, they don't look very good but they might work. If you want to make them just a little bit better you can cut off the hinge.

I'm glad you got your feet wet with agar, good luck!

These containers seem pretty good so far. This is after 5 days. I accidentally dropped a couple when removing from the sterilizer.  Sure looks neat though.

Kinda bummed tonight maybe someone can give me some good news. Just made a big batch of agar plates using this tek. My dumbass got all the way to loading them inside the PC and then discovered I had lost the rocker weight for the PC. My question is, will these plates survive till the replacement comes in a few days? ☯️

You hit the jackpot with those, very nice. The middle one is a real petri for comparison maybe?

@theherbaceouslayer, you don't know how many days? 3 days and you can expect some fuckery growing on the plates already.

You could use your PC as a big pot and steam-sterilize them, one hour is plenty.
