Please Help! My jars dried out!
    #25134069 - 04/12/18 08:19 PM (6 years, 9 months ago)

Inoculated my jars about 4 weeks ago, after no growth still I finally popped one open. Used BRF guides on site, always worked before for many lush grows. My jars have not started ANY growth of ANY kind, the one I opened was stuck tog and like 10% humid or less very dry.

First:

Are the spores in the jars still alive?

Second:

These are sealed and fully ready grow jars and inoculated with spores. (They are just too dry, maybe I pressure cooked em too long? I always overcook for sure sterilization.) How can I possibly rehydrate them without contam?

Any suggestions? I moved to the mountains where they don't grow in fields, I think this affected my jars.

I forgot I had a PH/Moisture/Light Rod. I stuck it in the jar and its at 2.2ish/10 at Moisture level. Is moisture an issue anyone thinks?

That's a great question I wish I could help ,but unfortunately I'm simi- new to growing.  I would love to read about some good solutions to re-hydrate after inoculation.  Just recently I thought I had the same problem ,but thank the shroom Gods!!!!! I moved my jars to a different location and BOOM! Mycelium started to appear within 4 days. I have no clue why because my WBS and RGS jars are doing amazing! I hope you get the answers your looking for and sorry I couldn't be any help. Good luck!

I'm thinking start over man.

You made surejars had proper field capacity before pressure cooking?

You can let them sit but 4 weeks is a while. usually i would see something at least by 2-4 weeks.

I would do new jars and make sure the field capacity is correct and proper sterile technique when innoculating

No way to rehydrate the jars without needing to resterilize

To clarify, I know this CAN work on grain but with pf you risk pushing contams through the verm. Unless it was filtered beyond the verm I wouldn't try it. Also with grain you can shake and roll it around to distribute the moister. In a cake it's going to act differently. Gravity will try to take it all down, so...

I don't know how dry your shit is but you could POSSIBLY get away with putting a cc or two in each of the holes (assuming you have four.)  I WOULD NOT attempt this if the verm is your only filter.

This is what stands out to me. If it's just a dry verm layer, I don't see how you can get a needle in without pushing contams through the layer with you. It's not like squirting into an open lid or through a alcohol wiped ship.

The only time I ever had this work was using more water during initial LI injection. Nothing after the fact.

Start anew.

Either way, the jars are fully ready and done so may as well inject the water.. It beats starting over IMO...

I'm gonna wash the top of the jar with a 10% bleach solution then burn the needle and use a seperate bottle of bottle water for every jar.

If they get contams I will start over. I just don't see how I lost my moisture on sealed jars.. They are double tapped on the top and inside of the lid caps..

I'm gonna crumble the cakes anyways (the few that do cake and mature, if any) into a hole drilled litter box of verm/coir and then seal that up and wait a few weeks for it to spread; then fruit the mega litter boxes like giant cakes.

I used this crumble then regrow method last year and it turned my small cakes into giant mega cakes.

What recipe did you use. Back in the day I thought it was something like 2 cups of water 2 cups of Vermont 1 cup of brown rice flour.

No, it's always been 2:1:1 verm/water/BRF.  Ratios stay the same no matter amount of material used.

2:1:1 BRF.

Its done I injected 15-25 cc water per jar, sat it upside down.

Waited a few mins then tapped em back to bottoms (the jar shaped rice cakes).

Still heard/see the dry verm layer, it's still dry

Now just to wait and see how many contam. *prays*
