Is 7 weeks too long for wbs jars? 80-90% colonized
    #25135484 - 04/13/18 10:53 AM (6 years, 9 months ago)

Hey everyone. I had a thread about my very slow colonizing wbs jars and after 7 weeks three of them are almost fully colonized with white (hopefully) golden teacher mycelium. The temperature changes here in the north Texas area have been wildly sporadic the past couple months and I hope that is to blame. Wanted to get some input from more experienced members, as this is my first go at this. Is 7 weeks too long be used for a bulk substrate method? Btw I used a wbs tek that involved a vermiculite bottom layer. Probably not the best idea. Any input is appreciated, thanks!

Have you shaken the jars at all?

7 weeks is a long time for colonization of quart jars.

Is that verm in the bottom? The bottom someti.es won't colonize because of a few things, either lack of o2, or moisture can settle on the bottom and bacteria can build, I would tend to agree with previous post, bust em up give em a try, what were this from Spore? Liquid culture?

Yea the tek I called for a bottom Verm layer (won't make that mistake again). I used a golden teacher spore syringe from spores101, gonna try a different vendor next time. Underneath the tyvek filter is the metal mason jar lid with the 1/4" hole in the middle and micropore tape over the injection hole in tyvek.
