Yes they are around. My patch had a single sub in it but a slug ate it before I got to it.

What's shroomery policy on requesting spore prints? I'm looking to get back into cultivation and would be keen to get some local sub spores if anyone's willing. Would make it worth your while

So we went up to Jenolan, found a lot of fungus... only managed to nab 3 actual subs.
There's a lot of this:

Tried to get a print out of these ones, but alas I was too late.

I've been on a few hunts this year and haven't found anything ...

Hey guys, complete newbie here looking for some help identifying these mushrooms that I found out on a hunt. Haven’t taken a spore sample yet. They were found in a leafy reserve by a creek that gets soaked/flooded when it rains in western Sydney suburbs.
Any help identifying would be much appreciated!

Can't identify, but I know those are not psilocybes. You'll see heaps of those around atm. They're everywhere as the rain flushes all kinds of species.
What you want to look for is a fruit with the similar colour on the cap, but with less of a nipple and not so dark in the centre. Also the stem will be a very whitey-white, you'll see vertical strands like fibres and you'll almost be able to see kind of a dark blue tinge to them if they're a little older.
Then when you pinch the stalk it should bruise to a bluey-black colour after about 2-5 mins or sometimes straight away. Notice how that species has a yellow tinge to the outside and a yellow inner.
Also the stalk will feel a lot stronger than other species. Again, notice how the ones you picked are very weak in the stem, they almost disintegrate in your hand as you pick them.
Happy hunting!!

Much appreciate MM! I didn’t think they would be magical but the education has to start somewhere! You are absolutely right though; these are all over the track at the moment.
Went for another walk at lunch and found some more varieties:

Found some on the weekend in Sydney. I think the mountains are too frosty so I don't think they can grow there now. As for cubes I don't know when they start but I think it has to be really warm.

Hey, I've just started looking in the last few weeks in Katoomba but unfortunately have had no luck finding mushrooms at all and could do with some experienced advice. I've been looking on the side of national park tracks, this place, park mulch and some other areas that were damp under pine trees with lots of needles. Am I looking in the wrong places or should I keep persevering? It has been dry, very cold and windy lately. Appreciate the help.

In my dog's honest experience, he needed someone to show him a specific patch while they were growing. He'd put in probably a combined total of 80+ hours this year searching for them and had come up empty handed repeatedly, however stumbled upon another dog who was also sniffing around, and asked for a bit of help.
You will benefit most by having someone that's able to take you to a specific patch while they are fruiting, and then to have them point at one and say: "That's what you want."
And then to point at the poisonous ones that are almost always found nearby.
My dog reckons having another dog there to show you a confirmed specimen really helped train his eyes (and nose) to the specific type that he was looking for, and has also saved him from eating a few dodgy ones.
Woof!
-Sincerely, my dog.

Hey guys! First time doing all this, wondering if I could get a hand with identifying this little fella? Found him in some bushland next to a little creek, sorry for the crummy photos.
Cheers!

I can't tell you the exact name, but it doesn't look active dude.
You're better off posting directly in the ID sub section instead of this thread my man. A TI (Trusted Identifier) will be able to see it there and confirm the exact species and if it's edible, active, poisonous, etc.

Thank to the Shroomery, this thread and everyone that helped me through my first successful season. I learned a lot and experienced a whole lot too, it's been a very magical season
Evident by these mushrooms, the season has come to an end, I found these stragglers hiding very well, are they safe to consume? I've never had a mushroom in this condition before and am unsure. Thanks everybody!

Don't eat anything with too much bruising, imo if its still mostly brown it should be alright, and it doesn't mean the season is over, they could be back where you found em soon enough
