I'm wanting to hunt in northern tablelands nsw but I'm from Qld and don't have any experience hunting subs, does there seem to be a temperature threshold you have found or just rain? for this time of year

Is there a Sub lookalike that has pale cream gills instead of dark brown? Seen a lot around that look pretty much 100% identical to subs aside from the gill colour which is a pale cream colour.
Familiar with Galerina but these ones still have white stems, no Annulus, no reddish colouration and bluing. They seem to be lacking any real visible spores as well on the stem but there are flecks of what seem like... purple brown spores?
I suspect they might just be subs with pale gills, but it's something I've not really come across before. Should have taken a picture damn.

Hey guys, newbie here. Looking for some advice on locations/habitats.
I went searching for subs today in Belanglo and Penrose state forests, which are mostly damp pine environments. Not that grassy. I found plenty of common mushrooms, including a couple of amantias, but the subs eluded me. Was I looking in the right place? Any help appreciated

Nice finds mate!
How far up the mountains were you? Thinking of going this weekend but it's been a few years since I've been hunting and I'm not sure of my old spots anymore

Hey friend.
I'm very much an amateur still, but I've been having luck this season, it's offered me opportunity to observe Psilocybe subaeruginosa in different stages of life.
This might not be helpful, but I've observed lots of smaller subs having white/cream gills, I think it's because they're too young to produce spore yet. Don't quote me on that though!
Here's a young sub I found today, do the gills look like this?

Visited the Blue Mountains today. Oberon forest in particular. Plenty of mushrooms, just no subs. I feel like I must be looking in the wrong environment.
Here's a picture of the kind of areas I was looking at.

Keep hunting dude, you're in the right environment. Psilocybe subaeruginosa are wood lovers, search where fallen branches, trees and pine needles meet with grass.

I was looking out for that blend of grass but the problem with state forests is the pine is usually divided from the eucalyptus and such by dirt roads. Guess I'll have to go more rogue and find more natural locations.

Personally, I have the most luck with woodchip beds on the side of the road. I have yet to find any subs in pine needles or in the bush/grass despite seeing a lot of them in the other states threads. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places, but in my experience woodchip beds are usually the best. Here's some more pics from the weekend. Happy hunting!

I've been hunting all week throughout the Brindabellas. I'm trying to go down off beat fire trails and walking tracks that aren't on maps and are well hidden in the heart of the Brindies (ACT)...yet no prevail so far. Seen a lot of activity, and A LOT of big sub lookalikes, but none of the good ones. We've had a good amount of rain this week. Is the season still fruiting for y'all? I'm heading out tomorrow for a big hunt.

Some friends found these while trekking in the Blue's somewhere

Not looking for any massive feedback as i can't give detailed info but just wondering if anything bad stands out, they said they've tripped before from them but cannot identify even the name of the species or name essential characteristics of identification like gills, stipe, bruising etc. Just concerned as a friend will also be taking them.
thx

I’m new, I know many of these are not psychedelic/psilocybin, but can any of these be identified? thanks.
