Is that right? I've had a big bag I've been wanting to use. Is it advisable to use on a bacterial spawn run?

I hear that’s the case. I was just trying to get my brf skills down first so I can better understand sterile techniques and the process. I’ll probably still rotate brf cakes with grain jars just to have multiple projects going.

I don't know about less work/time. You really do have to put in more time to ensure your culture is clean. With cakes I can whip up 20 pints in no time and PC fast. Quick and easy to inoculate and set and forget until its time to birth. I was getting like 6-7g dry, per cake 1st flush.

It's 1tsp of lime per cup of peat. I'm gonna edit that.

Damn that sounds like a lame quality jar. Normally they shouldn't break even with quick temp differences. I can take my 100°C jars and put them under running cold water without an issue, haha.

Yeah, right when I locked the lid on me PC I heard this this, saw nothing was wrong so I started unloading the PC to be safe and on the last jar it got 1/2 way out-right she I saw the crack and plop. Made a bunch of coco coir coffee (I do use spend cider grounds). Oh well, I put it in an empty marinera sauce jar, about the only reason I save those anyways is for sterilizing grain or sub.

Honestly for continuing results measure before and after ph. Of everything
With chemical sterilization ph is everything

I dont know how big of a difference tho. I just had a culture thst the wedge stuck to the underside of the plates lid. Rather then fuck with it i left it. Well the mycelium could sense the presence of a nutritious media and it bridged itself from the underside of the lid. To the surface of the agar media.
Was pretty cool to watch.
