Lots of people grow bagseed no problem. I don’t think the odds of herming are much higher than any other seeds.

Give it a shot, don’t stress them out and see what comes up

Don’t bubble bags make that black putty type hash?

I used to make some shockingly good hash with a shot glass and rubbing alcohol. I’m definitely planning on making a lot of hash asap.

I just did my first ever defoliation yesterday before flipping tomorrow. They look so much nicer when you can see the plant structure and all the tops.

I’m kind of confused on how the buds grow. I know they start from the nodes but do they also start growing off the stem at some point?

Like when you see the big long colas it can’t be tight spaced nodes the whole way down.

So for example with this plant where you can see the bare stems will they stay that way with little buds on the tops or do they fill in somehow?

Ok that does clear it up some.

The other day I was looking at a branch that I’d topped and the two new ones were maybe two inches tall. Instead of training them apart I kinda wanted to bind them together and see if they formed a super bud during lol.

Lol alright I’ll keep pulling them apart.

I love super cropping. All my plants are covered in lumps from mild crushing. At first I did a couple full on totally crush and bend 90 degree super crops, and then I saw how much stronger the branch got so I started just kinda pinching them all over. The branch stays in place but gets swollen up a little, not quite the full on knuckle.

On one of the forums a few people were asking this same thing. I guess March was a little too early in a lot of places and the nights were too long. If that’s the case they said it’ll reveg and be fine now that the days are longer.

Those cicadas are gnarly. I never saw them until I moved in my 20s. The first year I kept thinking my city just had super loud power lines

The shells they leave stuck to trees are crazy too.

I’m looking at filters now cuz I just flipped two days ago. Any suggestions? They all seem good from what I’ve seen, I saw some easy homemade ones too.

I’m using a closet not a tent though which could be an issue. I’m gonna try buying a roll of painters tarp and covering the whole closet then adding a zipper or Velcro down the middle. I think if I do that I could then add a vent hole with a fan and filter.

Ok weird question for you guys.

What would happen if I vegged a plant to like 3-4 feet tall, and then bent it into a U shape and buried the top in a second pot.

I was reading grow journals and this guy was growing in huge pots and instead of chopping off the lower branches he’d bend them into the dirt and they’d turn into roots.

So that got me thinking about this weirdness. It seems like the plant would just explode and turn into a monster bush between breaking apical dominance and the extra roots.

I feel some experiments coming on.

My other thing was instead of training the plants with lst I could just wait for a seedling to sprout and then turn the pot on it’s side for a month. Then it would grow with a nice low bend with no stress.

I’m thinking maybe I’ll combine the two   Keep the pot on its side until the plant is a couple feet and then turn it right side up and bury the top in another pot. Then I’d have two pots connected by a slightly raised main stem.

I’ve got a question about light too.  Do plants get hardier and want more light in flower?

I’m running a viparspectra xs2000 which is a 240 watt led. About 4 weeks from sprout I tried turning the light up but they all started stressing before 50%. I was slowly turning it up but I’ve been holding at around 60% now.

I haven’t tried cranking it up too 100% so maybe it’ll be fine but it just seems like dropping the light a few inches and increasing the brightness that much wouldn’t go over well. I was planning on adding another 140 Watts for flowering too.

Some autos get huge, I was researching them and some strains can still put out a pound per plant.

I just started a couple and saw some pistils at day 20.

One of my autos is super brittle. I slightly bent it when it was at 4 nodes and the stem almost tripled in thickness. Then I topped it and it took a couple days to recover but the tops took off. Then I tried to adjust the lst a tiny bit and the whole top node instantly snapped off.

I put the top in water in hoping it’ll root cuz it’s got the two mains coming off it. The rest of it didn’t seem to mind at all, the newest top nodes just took off right away.

This is at 26 days today so basically all of week four. Pretty sure I’ll end up with a tiny plant but whatever. If I get half ounce I’ll be happy for my first auto.

Pretty basic question, during the flowering stretch how much of the growth is new nodes vs stretching distance between existing nodes?

And for a plant that’s been topped and trained will the branches all grow equally or will the main stem continue to grow way more than the rest?

Like say you have a plant that’s 12” long, but trained down so it’s nearly horizontal with the branches growing vertically. When it stretches will the branches double in height or will the main stem keep going so you’ll end up with a 24” plant trained down horizontally.

Ok cool thanks.

They’re visibly taller every day now and getting a bunch of tight alternating nodes which also explains the bud formation I was asking about the other day.

I was waiting for preflowers to see if it was female before transplanting this coir plant, but it took forever and I started 12/12 a few days back so I decided to just do it now.

There were so many roots grown into the pot I think I might’ve been better off just leaving it and dealing with feeding more often. They smelled really strongly like fresh plant too, it was surprising.

Hopefully it doesn’t cause problems.

Do you guys continue lst until the stretch is done? I feel like if I keep bending them wider and wider I won’t have any vertical colas and it’ll just be a bunch of sideways buds lol. That might be a good thing though I guess since it lets the light in.

Today is day ten of 12/12 and they’re definitely getting taller quickly. It’s also looking like I hit a miracle run and got all females. Super crowded since I was planning on 2-3 less plants

Only one hasn’t shown and it’s my only coir plant which is my favorite. It’s gotta be female cuz it’s super healthy and hasn’t shown at seven weeks now.

Trex I started two autos, one in a two gallon soil pot and one in a 1gal coir pot. The soil one is much larger. I figured coir works a little different so it might not matter but it looks like it might.

Of course a two seed sample size means nothing but that’s what’s happened with mine.

Do you guys lollipop or whatever all plants regardless of height?

This plant seems like it’s short and open enough that even the bottom branches should get decent light. Especially when I see pictures of 3-4 foot plants with solid bottom buds.

I’ve been told to take off a lot of the branches and growth tips though, basically everything on the bottom third of the branches.

I transplanted this one a couple days ago and a ton of roots got ripped off from being stuck to the pot. I was super happy to see them still praying this morning like nothing happened.

I’m running a viparspectra xs2000 about a foot and a half above canopy, and then I have another 110w led im planning on adding once they can handle it.

Most are in ffof, one is coir with just the basic GH trio and calmag. After this I’ll be doing only coir probably. It’s so much easier when you know everything going in. The one in coir is definitely my healthiest one and I’ve had zero issues with it.

The only downside is daily feeding but I can deal with that a few ways.

This first run is mostly seeds from a layer cake that was accidentally pollinated by chocolate nightmare. Then I have a triple cheese and two cheese cbd autos.

It’s weird how different the same strains can be. I’ve been on 12/12 for two weeks now and five plants had a decent stretch to them but this one is pushing 3x the height already. And it’s just the branches luckily.

So with these stalks it’s going to be just a chunk of bud on the tops and then some little ones further down where there’s growth tips right? I’m guessing this is the type of growth that turns into the field of golf balls mentioned earlier.
