When you get a big nug and find one or two seeds in it, that’s gotta be from nanners right?

I mean I guess one or two bits of pollen could’ve blown from far away but it seems nanners would be more likely.

Way back when I would buy an 8th and occasionally find a seed they were always female so I just kind of assume that’s what happened.

Nanners would only make fem seed right? I just realized that’s the base of my whole assumption but I’m not even sure

No, a nanner can result in a male, female, or intersex plant.  Fem seeds come from the process of producing XX only pollen by reversing a female plant using colloidal silver or gibberellic acid.

It could be a nanner, or it could be male pollen drifting in from one of my other projects.  There were also tons of CBD hemp fields around.  In portland you're also dealing with people who just sprout seeds and have no fucking idea they are growing a giant male and ruining things for everyone for half a mile.

I decided to challenge some of the fears I have had in the past about light pollution.  After some conversation here I figured I’d challenge the theory about light pollution a little for shits and giggles.  Below is a picture of the amount of light the flower room is getting, intere

I’ll probably get a lot of push back here, but I have several reasons to believe that cannabis plants are no where near as sensitive to light in the dark phase of the day as people think. First reason is for three years now my plants have been on a patio with a light that shines directly on them for brief periods most nights. They are also less than ten feet away from a street lamp that shines on their tops if they get too tall. They grow in the middle of a densely populated part of a large city and even on the darkest nights theres enough ambient light to see things easily. They’ve all flowered normally and I’ve never had a plant herm on me.

Secondly, these plants all start flowering in august when there is still ~13 hours of sunlight a day plus another hour of twilight. It seems to me that the plants are switching into dark mode even while the sun is still up, just in the shadow of a three story building.

If anything, the opposite problem is true. In the first half of spring, when the length of the day is already more than 12 hours, plants that were started too early and put outside will start to flower.

It’s entirely possible that plants that grow up in areas with a lot of ambient light are not as sensitive to light during their night phase.

I don't think it messes wit them in the causing intersex traits way, but after growing in both the country and the city I can say light pollution DEFINITELY delays flowering a little bit.  Sometimes that extra couple of weeks can mean the difference between pulling it off or not if your environment has a cool and wet autumn.

There's also the fact that plants outdoors are used to a big ol bright nightlight in the sky, so they evolved to deal with light at night.

I pollinated a little chronic ryder before heading off for a smithing conference this weekend and when I got home after a couple of days every hair on her had turned from white to orange.  I'm expecting about 100-150 seeds from her.  Chronic ryder is a very easy to grow plant and I'll be saving these up for people who want to give growing a try but are intimidated by the idea of a full size plant.

The Fire99 auto female is perfectly ready to be pollinated and the male is just starting to drop pollen.  The female is the bushy pheno and the male appears to be the tall pheno, so it'll be fun to see what this in-line pollen chuck does.  Fire99 auto (Fire OG x C99 auto) are surprisingly potent little things with a bit of variation in size.  Most of the time they are small/medium auto size, but every now and then an outlier is a bit bigger than you would expect from an auto, especially in the ground outside.  This was an obscure line made by Krk from highrise, a now defunct company that bred outdoor strains for the lakes region and southern canada.  I'm glad to be able to keep it going as it makes a great base for crossing strains to auto, and is also a great stand alone.

Well I did a stupid.  The F99 male I selected to breed with is a triploid.  Way to use your brain Piggy.  At least I have a bucket of seeds from before and can try again in the fall.  It'll be fun flowering out this bushy F99 female.

the tent is getting sparse.  Just fucking around with some autos and just up potted the OG kush to a squat six.  I really need to get my filter installed, the water here is absolute garbage and is making things difficult.,

Bruce Banner #3 is in a 45 gallon outside and one of the blueberry hills is in the ground.  I'll throw up some pictures after I get more planted and cleaned up out there, right now my place is a junkyard.

This.  Every nutrient company has instructions and feeding schedules for their product.  Some require you to mix them into the water in a certain order for them to work at all so ALWAYS READ THE INSTRUCTIONS.

Finally got some plants going outside.  First photo is a Bruce Banner 3 clone in a 45 gallon pot on the porch.  Sativa hybrids are always a gamble in portland, but I figured the smaller pot would help it flower sooner with some cramped feet.  Going to be fun bushing it out.  Second photo is a Herbie's Blueberry Hill early flowering indica.  There's not much info out about these as they're pretty new, but I figured I'd roll the dice again and see if it actually flowers earlier at all.  She's in a 65 gallon smart pot in the yard.  The last two are bag seeds in three gallon pots waiting for their final pots.

I helped my neighbor put in a 4'x4' raised bed with amendments and lots of potting soil mixed 2' down with the bed 10" above the ground.  This is going to be a monster plant.  I'll get pics later.

Sad to report all the wedding cake plants ended up having balls and so were removed from the mortal coil with great haste.

In this house we believe in the vagenda of man-o-cide.

Nah.  Everything was from bagseeds that have had mystery seeds for a few years and it's time to not let these lines continue.  The plants are weak shadows of the original parents and I'm fine with letting them go on their way.  I'm in Portland, so I can always just drive to a dispensary and grab a clone of whatever if I need to.

About that though, I picked up a clone a month back and the fucking thing was covered in powdery mildew a few days after getting it home.  Fucking thing contaminated my entire inside grow.  I'm pissed, but learned a lesson about discount clones.  (did I though, did I really?  This isn't the first time )

I hate to have to tell you this, but if you live in the northern hemisphere it's time to start over.

You put your plants out too soon and they are going into flower because the daylight hours were too short.  Soon the hours will be long enough that they will become confused and try to revert to vege growing.  This will massively fuck with the plant and cause it to flower poorly in the fall, and later than in normally would making harvest less likely.  If they were my plants I would scrap them and put new plants out later on.  June 10th is a safe set out date for northern hemisphere growers.

Been busy and missed this reply. Yes, I am in Virginia, USA. Plants are further along now. Small one is covered in buds with seemingly healthy trichomes.

Other two look pretty different from each other, but both are just over 6 feet tall. Left one is flowering, I think. Right one isn’t there yet.

I’ve taken clones from the right one, and if those root nicely I’ll get them outside ASAP. In the meantime, I’m assuming it won’t hurt to just leave these alone and see what happens? At the very least I can continue cutting clones off of the right one? Thanks for the advice.

Those are all revegging from flowering.  Personally I would cut them and replace them with new plants, but there is no harm in leaving them UNLESS the stress causes them to hermi.  You don't want your plants or other people's plants to get pollinated.

Do not expect bud from them or for them to finish in time in the fall if you leave them.  They will bush out like crazy as they revege.

Yeah, let the small one mature a bit more since it's already made buds with tricomes.  Should be smokable bud.

If you do let the other plants revege just make sure that you have enough time to finish them in the fall.

That is not an assumable time frame.  Different plants flower at different rates.  The good news is males do not take as long as females.

Nice.  I've got a BB3 out on the deck right now in a 45 gallon smart pot.

We're just finally starting to get some sun this summer and the plants are leaning into it.

I've done that many in a 2x2.

Sometimes you just want a little sea of green.

Clones or autos, pick your poison
