So autoflowering eh? I have been put of the loop for like, a decade.  I thought I knew what's what. Now theres weed that just starts flowering and finishes by the time what I was familiar with even starts to flower.
Fancy schmancy

We’re finally back! Here’s some updates. The outdoor blue mystic trellis is going apeshit. I should have kept tucking the branches for another week. I stopped when I started seeing pistils and they just kept stretching. This blue mystic stretches like fuck. Nirvana’s description is totally off the mark with this one.

And my closet trellis setup. All indicas in here. More from nirvana. Aurora and their extremely indica dominant white widow. I think I need to add two more of these lights. They’re the cheapest good COB LEDs I could find and they run off 110 so I just threw together some Edison sockets for them. They’re not CXB-3590s but they run off 32 watts each and put out 3000 lumens each in a nice 3000k warm white. I’m just vegging them under the flower lights in there because I don’t have room anywhere else. I’m getting a grow tent and setting up a few more of the 6000k version of those lights in it. I have 4 in the closet and I want to add two more. One light for each plant. With the trellis I think that should get me some nice fat nuggets.

There is a "county inspector" coming to the house today to "inspect" the new A/C unit/system we had installed a few months ago, what ever it is that they do...They will have to be on the roof at one point to check the A/C unit itself, they will have a pretty clear view of my plants from the roof if they glance into the backyard...the plants aren't huge, only about 3 to 4ft tall (20 & 30 gal pots), but can be seen pretty easily from a roof. From that angle they just look like any other greenery/plants, but it's likely pretty obvious what they are....

...I'm allowed to grow 6 plants (California) but growing outdoors is technically banned in my county. I'm not too worried about it but it is certainly on my mind, I'm really hoping this county-inspector isn't a "snitchy" person and/or is kinda oblivious & only focused on their work. Worst case scenario is they do snitch about it and a sheriff or "code enforcement" officer would come and tell me I have to chop em'/get rid of them and/or receive a ticket/fine of sorts, but that would be truly heart breaking and infuriating for me. Growing these plants is a big passion of mine and also provides my broke ass with herb/medicine for 6+ months. Most of the little spare money I've had over the past few months has gone into growing these plants and they're looking so damn good right now, starting to stretch & bud up.

....just rambling about some stuff on my mind lol.

This is what I got from my Auto's. These buds should keep me busy for a while! Each jar is a different strain.

These are the only plants I have growing now. Time to get more seeds.

This is an Auto. I can't remember what strain it is right now. It's really small though. Only like 12" so far.

I accidentally broke a branch off my Lemon Candy so I tried to clone it an it worked! Then I bent it over for fun.

They appear a lil droopy, looking under or over watered..?....

...or is that just the look/structure that plant has?

I think I asked you before but forget...Did you get your seeds for autos from an online vendor or from a local weed store? I def would like to get some auto seeds, I'm going to start looking into what's out there.

I don't know what you're looking for as far as seeds/genetics go....

...but check out "Equilibrium Genetics" . Their seeds can be found in several weed stores around nor-cal/bay area. I don't have any comparison since this was my first time growing from seed, but so far I'm pretty impressed by their "Lemon Wookie Glue" that I'm growing this time around. They seem like a legit northern-california breeder. The price of their seeds is pretty reasonable too, I got a "6 pack" for $40, but it actually came with 12 seeds  .

Holy fuck.

I’ve got a question for all of you. I need some more light in my closet and I was originally planning to throw in two more lights like I have. I then remembered I have a 600 watt HPS in storage and I found a LED conversion bulb on amazon for less than two more of the 32w COBs. Has anyone used these? My main concern is heat. I can run an exhaust fan on the reflector if I have to but I’d rather not. Here’s the light I’m thinking of getting. I’ll just need to disconnect the ballast and put a plug on the fixture since it runs straight off 110.  this could be a cheap and effective way to get my lighting to where it needs to be.

Here’s a shot of the outdoor plants today. They look happy. The aurora still hasn’t started budding but the blue mystic is going off.

Yeah, they were under watered in that picture. I went to the lake for a couple days and they were really thirsty when I got back. With the heat this week I have been watering them twice a day and that doesn't even seem like enough for them.

I got my seeds online. Most of the autos were from "00 Seeds." I'll check out those seeds you mentioned. Does anybody else have any strain or company suggestions for Autos and/or photo-period plants? Are there any "must have" strains for growing or anything really unique?

I have yet to grow indoor, haven't delved into that world of growing yet so I can't answer your question.

Your outdoor plants do look happy though.

My Thin-Mint and my Underdog-Urkle plants are still not quite into the full swing of flowering yet either. They're definitely stretching a bit and things are starting to happen at the bud sites, but things are happening really slow compared to my plants last year. Last year most of my plants were already getting frosty/oozing trichomes at this point.

That'll do it.

It's been toasty these past few days for sure (100 to 105+ out in my area). Looks like a bit of a cool down is on the way though.

Even with the heat in my area, and humidity down to around 10% to 15%, and fabric pots which breathe a lot, I still only water every other day. My soil seems to hold moisture really well (lots of coco & peat). When I first grew last year I thought I was going to have to water daily and up to twice a day during heat waves like this one, but I found that they can go several days with out water.

As far as other breeders/seed companies and what not...I can't speak from experience since this grow is my first time around with seeds, but I have been looking into breeders a bit over the past year and some of the breeders/seed companies that seem to stand out to me and from where I plan to buy seeds are...

-Equilibrium Genetics
-Bodhi Seeds
-Gage Green Genetics
-Archive Seeds
-Humboldt Seed Company

Those are the first that come to mind and some that I'd suggest looking into. Some of those breeders/seed companies can be found in weed stores around nor-cal too. I know there are a few others I can't think of at the moment...but Equilibrium and Bodhi both have a lot of stuff I would love to grow, they all do really lol.

So many varieties I want to grow, but such little time & space to do so in this lifetime lol.

Well I ended up ordering the less expensive corn bulb. For 50 bucks I got one that’s supposedly equivalent to a 250w HPS. It’s rated for 60 watts and 8000 lumens with a 4000k temperature. I think it will complement the lights that are already in there nicely. I got my reflector out of storage, retrofitted it to run straight off a 110 volt outlet, and hung it up. The bulb arrives on Monday. I think this will be just right. If I decide to get the more powerful one I’ll use this one for veg. I’m going to be setting up a veg/clone tent so I can get that shit out of my closet and light leak proof it.

I’ve read that aurora is super sensitive to light leaks and I can’t have anything herming out on me.  I love how they’re making more and more powerful LED bulbs with built in drivers and surge protection that run off of normal AC. One of the reasons I decided against investing in chips and heatsinks and an expensive driver is that I knew this tech was emerging. I think I’ll be ready to flip these girls in 2-3 more weeks. I’ve never let plants veg for this long before, and since I’ve got that outdoor crop going off I’m in no hurry to bud these. I want a nice big stash of indica insomnia medicine.

So although I have switched to promix HP, I still had some potted plants in old miracle grow that I only recently switched into promix. Black spots started appearing first on my dream herb, then my salvia. The dream herb recovered, the salvia died. Been pretty careful, using neem and pyrethrum spray. But today something terrible happened. I went to my grow tent (where I have never seen insects) to see if any fan leaves were shading buds and needed trimming. I noticed nothing unusual. Plant looks good (sorry for blurriness, too much caffeine).

However the leaf I cut off has these round, liquidy looking black spots that are freaking me out. The plant is more than halfway through flower, trichomes are getting milky. I don't want to spray it with anything. Neem would ruin the taste even if it isn't toxic.

Anybody have any advice? This is my only cannabis plant ATM and I really don't want to lose her. I literally just noticed this under 10 minutes ago and am pretty worried. Thanks guys.

Yeah and as a matter of fact so many of those new strains have OG in them. The market is fucking saturated with California origin “Ocean Grown Kush” hybrids, but actual landrace kush from the mountains in India is a horse of a different color. I only have one OG hybrid and I picked it carefully. The rest of my stuff is more “classic” strains derived from landraces, and then tangie which is a skunk hybrid.

Anyway the corn bulb came in and it is sick. Fuck building lights with drivers and heatsinks. Just put a regular plug on a cheap e39 base wing reflector and you’re off to the races. I put this one in a nice hood.

Some of my plants (outdoors) have some of those little black specs on some leaves along the lower portion of the plant.

My plants did last year as well.

I've been curious what they actually are.

I assume those black spots are either sugars oozing out of the leaf, or shit/droppings from small insects/bugs.

My plants that had some of those specs on them last year turned out just fine  ....it would be nice to know what they are though.

Here are some pics of my plants & buds from my grow last summer. I never did post them in here like I kept saying I would over the past year lol .

Overall I was pretty happy with how the herb turned out, considering it was my first grow. I got a late start last summer and had little $ to work with to get it going, but I worked with what I had and grew me enough smoke to last 6+ months....Some of which was quite dank.

Frosted Cherry Cookies.

(Had a real nice high to it. On the plant the buds had a "peanut butter & jelly" kind of thing going on with some gassy/chem notes, fruity jelly with some nutty/doughy/earthiness, but the aroma didn't quite make it through the drying/curing. I feel that is because the shed I was drying in got a little warm, and I probably should have let it go for another week or more, and/or this strain just doesn't carry its essence well once dried. I almost got another clone of this strain this summer to "try again" and see if I could grow and dry/cure it better than I did last time. I feel that I cut it a bit too soon and could have dried it a bit slower/cooler...I enjoyed the colors it changed during the fall though, it was a real pretty plant...The branches on this strain were really droopy though, required a lot of support once the buds started to pack on weight)

South Fork Kush

(real nice "rich" high, stoney & euphoric....Probably my favorite all around from what I grew last summer, I found myself reaching for this stuff the most when I wanted to smoke and it was also the first stuff I ran out of lol....Which is funny because I was initially not too impressed with it right after it was drying, I even remember making a comment in this thread last fall about not being all that happy with it at first, but after curing for a few months I fell in love with it. Earthy/woodsy aroma with a bit of gas, it matured into having a little bit of a floral/jasmine like essence in the mix after curing for a few months, really greasy/oily between the fingers)

Slymer

(Super frosty, nothing but resin on these buds. Incredibly sticky. Had a lime/lemon essence going on, with some creamy/sweetness, a turpentine-like note, and some mild earthy/pine underneath. Had a heady high to it, uplifting at first then transitions into a hazey/dreamy head-space with out being sedating or stoning...So gosh darn resinous though, pretty much right from the beginning of flowering the buds were frosted white and very sticky & aromatic.

Tangieland

(As for aesthetics, the Tangieland was my favorite. Super large buds, with purples & pinks & golds. Coated in syrupy sparkly resin. It had a unique aroma that I wasn't the biggest fan of though. Sugary-sweet grape and citrus with some other weird essence in the mix that I couldn't quite put my finger on but wasn't a fan of ....The buds were super dense on this plant, I lost some of my prime buds to mold/rot induced from caterpillars, this plant also attracted the most caterpillars out of the 4 strains I grew last summer....It is a really dank strain though, the main colas were the size of my arm and frosted with dense bud all the way down like you can see in the first pic, I just wasn't a fan of the aroma, and aroma is a huge part of cannabis for me....First pic was taken right before I started to harvest/chop it right before sunrise, so it's all floppy & hanging low with out any support)
