In some ways, since I trim after drying, trimming/peeling away the outer layer of dull/dry leaves and revealing the sight of the immaculate glittery resin coated dried flower for the first time is like unwrapping/opening up a gift for me...it is totally the same sort of thrill/satisfaction for me as opening a present on Christmas or a birthday lol. At least the first cola/top or two of a plant that I trim, after a bit I try to just try to get it done instead of geeking out on/looking at the beautiful flowers lol.

Last year I flew through the trimming, mostly just removing the bulk of anything that doesn't have resin on it.

I’m suppose to be onto my new project but I’m stalled out waiting for these girls to ripen.  I don’t trust many people enough to help trim and most are busy trimming their own.

For real tho lol.

Yea those plants you have seem to be taking for ever.

Before I ever grew the plant myself and ever looked into outdoor growing I always figured all plants outdoors were taken down in early October.

Now I realize harvest for most photos can range from late Sept to mid November (some even later), and many actually do need to go deep into Oct at the very least for a proper finish.

It's nice today, blue skies calm winds and getting into the mid/upper 70s.

I can see one of them things def going through extracts quick, seems like they are intended for relatively large amounts and not just a lil dab lol. I still want to try one, I imagine they are the ultimate way to dab for those that appreciate extracts.

I know glass & accessories can get stupid expensive.

Those were all nicely done.

When ever I do get one rolled up they usually are nice, fat & lumps at times but burn mostly even and not too tight or loose. Just takes me a long time and frustration. There's been a few I've rolled up somewhat quickly tho, I surprised myself.

Yea I bet with larger amounts one will get over it quickly and dread it.

I've never actually weighed my harvest but I think the most I've had is around 4 to 5 pounds (last year), and I didn't trim/break it all down.

I'll likely have around at least that amount if not more this time around, hard tellin'....but most of it will be better quality than what I had last year for sure.

So you guys jinxed me!! Never have I had mold and tonight I finally hit this years problem !  Saw it from a mile away. Guess the rides over for the one bud …. So far.  My theory is that the bad rain storm that rolled through I had water drip through holes from where I stapled my plastic canopy onto that chunk, but shit was actually slimy.  Rest of the girls seem fine and happy but there is one other that is losing its turgid/hydrostatic pressure you can see the girl next door is still perky, not sure if she’s finishing early or other bad things brewing.

Well damn, that's a bummer.

That's about what I had going on in the two spots where I found some mold/rot. After I removed the chunk of rot that's about how big of a piece that was taken out. Mine was slimy too once I dug into it and pulled it out (on the outside it was brown/dull looking).

It's hard for me to tell, but it almost looks like something was chewing into the stem where the rot is. Unless that's from the rot itself and/or from you pulling out the nasty chunk maybe tearing the stem a bit...or I'm just not seeing it clearly.

I still think it was caterpillars in my case, and/or possibly because the canopy I had over that one plant may have been pushing up against that bud while it was covered and raining.

No mold/rot seems to be spreading any more beyond the chunk that I removed though, at least from what I can see with my eye. It's been a couple days now and the rest of the bracts/buds on the cola around the chunk I removed still look fine and firm and pushing out new pistils, no off colors.

I had a fan blowing on some of my plants through out the night last night, it definitely did the trick to prevent dew/condensation from forming  .

I wasn't able to get air blowing over all of my plants but the plants that did have air flowing over them last night were totally dry this morning :yesnod: .

Seeing how well the fan at night worked to prevent condensation, this makes me feel more at ease with allowing a couple of my plants to go even a bit longer than I was planning.

I spotted another bit of mold on a different plant today....but again I feel it is caused by/introduced by caterpillars.

I actually spotted a lil baby caterpillar on a bud this morning.

I had fans blowing air over my plants again last night, it totally kept the dew/condensation off them. I should have had those going at night a while ago.

I took down my Lemon Wookie Glue bag-seed plant and most of my "Wedding Cake" plants last night (left a few colas to go a bit longer).

Tonight I'll be taking down the Granimals bag-seed plant as well as the Vanilla Frosting bag-seed plant.

And then tomorrow or Monday night I will be taking down my "Kush Cake" plants, which will be the last to come down...If the weather was ideal they would likely go until about Nov 7th or even a few days longer, but there is a chance of some light showers this next week and I'm done with trying to keep em' going lol.

But dang...now that I've been harvesting plants and hanging em' up & stuffing my closet full of colas, about 2/3rds of my plants are hanging up now, now that I see them hanging up and how much space is already occupied I have a better idea & a visual reference point for how much I've grown this year....Lots! lol. At least 4 to 5 pounds I'd think, I'm really not sure though, I'm terrible at estimating/guessing weight when it comes to larger amounts.

Pretty sure it is quite a bit more than what I grew last year (some of these colas are super thick & dense and have some serious weight to em'), and certainly better in overall quality (some of what I grew last year was pretty killer, but just about everything from every plant I grew this year is pretty dank)

Now I'm just hoping I don't see much, or any, mold/rot once I get into trimming and breaking down the colas.

Quote:

Icon said:

Can you dry it and trim later? I average 1.5 lbs per month and was over it like 3 months ago.

I toss all the dried branches in a bin and trim them over the course of the month. More than 3 hours per session is just torturous.

Does anyone else do that? I worry that I'm not getting the best quality cure by procrastinating. During the first 2-3 weeks they're still on the stem with all their sugar leaves.

Is the bin sealed up? If they are in the a sealed bin then I'd think they'd be fine, essentially "curing" while still on the stem.

But if they are sitting in open air for a month with out being trimmed I imagine that would have some impact on quality  . I've had some colas hanging up for a long time before, like 4 to 6 weeks, and when I finally did get around to trimming them they were actually still pretty good quality. Depends on the ambient humidity/temp, how dense the flowers are, etc.

Once dry tho, I do try to get it trimmed up and into jars within a week. "Try" is the key word there lol.

I imagine it gets pretty old quickly with you indoor growers that have a harvest coming in every month or two lol, having 1.5lbs to trim through every month. Not a bad problem to have tho lol.

I'm lagging this year...I have some Sherblato that's been hanging to dry for about 2 or 3 weeks now, I def should have had that trimmed earlier this week. I'm going to try to knock that out today. I actually need to because I need to make a bunch of room for the rest of the plants I'm harvesting in the next couple days, my dry space is getting crowded.

lol @ Halloween decorations and "they're just helping flush the chlorophyll"

In what ways do spider mites impact the flowers?

Underneath those webs the flowers still look pretty good. It appears that they still have trichomes/resin, the trichomes even appear milky/swollen and filled with resin. And the flowers appear to still be developing and pushing out new pistils. Besides the webs, in what ways are spider mites detrimental?

*Edit:....taking a closer look, I can kinda see how the fan leaves appear to be ravaged by the mites, am I seeing that correctly?

When I've had mites (hemp/russet or broad mites)...they totally suck the life out of the flowers and prevent the flowers from developing at all. One can have chunky resinous buds and basically overnight or within just a couple days the flowers will no longer have any resin at all and will stop pushing out pistils entirely. The flowers stop pushing out pistils, all pistils turn brown/dead, the trichomes become shriveled/deflated and no longer contain resin (rubbing the flower and there is no oily/sticky resin and no aroma). One can have an immaculate resinous flower covered in white resinous trichomes, and within just 24 to 48 hours that flower will essentially be lifeless and all resin gone.

This pic shows what the damn things do to my flowers...The top portion of the flower still has white trichomes filled with resin and is pushing out new white pistils, one can clearly see the resin on the top portion of the flower. While the lower portion of the flower is infested with mites, no resin, all pistils dead, and the bud is no longer developing at all. They will move through that entire flower and within about a day or two the entire flower will be lifeless.

Ultimately, this is what they do to my flowers...Granted this is a lower bud, just the day or two before it was glowing/vibrant with white resin and fresh white pistils.

I was starting to see a bit of mite activity last weekend. I just hit the plants aggressively with jets of water making sure to get under the leaves and that has knocked them back. It helps we had two storms with a lot of wind and rain. Mites like dry conditions.

I don't think water/pressure will do anything to remove mites.

At least IME with hemp and broad mites, they are extremely tiny/microscopic, like smaller than the lil hairs on the surface of a leaf, and they hide up inside microscopic crevices within the surface of leaf/stems/flowers. They almost can't be seen with the eye. They look like "dust" essentially and can only be seen with the eye when they are in large numbers.

Sider mites appear to be a lot larger in size than hemp/broad mites though, if that's what you're dealing with I imagine those might be able to be sprayed off with water (to an extent).

But with hemp or broad mites, I really don't think spraying water is going to do anything to em'.

Water pressure works great for getting aphids off plants though.

Those of you that have done quick wash alcohol extracts, any tips?

How long do you usually "wash" the material for? How long do you feel one can wash before chlorophyll starts to pull into the solution?

I plan on putting everything in the freezer to pre-chill (herb, jars, alcohol)...thinking 30 second washes at a time? Ideally I was thinking about using some dry ice to get the alcohol extremely cold but I don't have the $ for that right now, so the alc will just be chilled in the freezer.

One cola I harvested last night has a couple spots of mold/rot (likely from caterpillars)...over all most of the buds on the cola are fine and can be smoked, but out of curiosity I kinda want to see what I get from doing a quick wash on fresh/live bud (it was chopped last night but the resin is still plenty fresh/live). The cola is super resinous, I feel that I should get some pretty decent oil from a quick wash.

You have successfully removed mites off a plant by just merely spraying them with water?

What type of mite were you dealing with?

I just don't see how water/mechanical pressure would remove hemp or broad mites off a plant. They are extremely tiny.

Even wiping my finger across a leaf doesn't really remove them, they are so small they can sit in microscopic crevices.

I was curious too, hence letting it go and seeing what happened instead of just burning it all. As far as I can tell they didn't impact the flowers much at all. Indirectly by reducing photosynthetic cells and the webbing blocking some light I spose. But compared to russet mites, broad mites and thrips which can all decimate a flower, spider mites seem the least detrimental. Most of the colas have been webbed up for a month now, since week 3-4. I was too disgusted to even look at them, would just crack open the tent to feed in the irrigation tube. But besides the webbing it doesn't look half bad. I think the stippled pattern from their feeding makes the sugar leaves look more frosty than they actually are.

Interesting. Surprising really! lol

Yea the flowers don't appear to be in all that bad of condition considering they are totally wrapped up and infested with the mites, and for almost a month!

Hemp/broad mites will take out a flower within a few days and move through the entire plant pretty quickly.

I know that feel of being "too disgusted" to even look at them"...When I was dealing with my first mite infestation last year, how all my glorious looking plants/flowers turned to shit essentially over night and I didn't know what to do. I didn't even want to see them, it was tough.

Once you harvest them I am super curious to see what the flowers look like with the web removed.

So do you just use a vacuum to remove the webs or how are you going to go about that?

I imagine they'd still make for good hash or extracts.

Well...

All my plants have officially been harvested.

I took down the last yesterday (Kush-Cake) about an hour before some rain showers came through. I really wanted to let them go through today and tomorrow since there's going to be some sun and warmth, but with that round of rain coming through yesterday the air is going to be pretty humid/moist and I don't want to keep worrying about the potential for mold/rot.

My closet is stuffed...I've got 7 or 8 lines strung up about 8 feet long each, each line completely filled with colas from end to end hanging to dry (just enough space between em' for some air flow).

I actually ran out of space to hang/dry in the closet so I had to rig up a pole between my speakers to hang clothes-hangers from (with colas hanging on the hangers)...This is the first time my dry space has been fully stuffed and over flowing lol.

Brief lull in things now...no plants to smell in the morning anymore, no plants to tend to, no plants to harvest, and nothing is dry enough to trim yet...But about 3 to 4 weeks worth of trimming will begin in about a week  .

Dude nice!

It was just a random idea that came to mind lol. Wasn't sure if that's something that folks do for webs/SMs or something that would work.

....Glad to hear and see that worked as well as it did  .

Now I can see the sort of damage those mites caused to the leaves. Overall the buds still look pretty alright though  .

Or do you have the plates from it rigged up in an actual press?

I tried using a hair straightener before on some of the most resinous flowers I've ever had, and it didn't do shit to press out any rosin...I even put it on the ground and tried standing on it to create as much pressure as possible, even that didn't do a damn thing.

There was a little bit of "rosin"/resin stuck on the parchment paper, but not even enough for a single dab (and I was using like 3g to 4g of flower).

I don't understand how folks get anything from using a hair straightener with out using any sort of press/pressure.

Same lol.

I was thinking about hashing it all, but I tried making hash with the flowers from a few different plants last year and I got extremely small yields (even tho the buds are totally frosted & packed full of resin)...For some reason the majority of the trichomes on my flowers do not break off the buds in ice water, and even after an hour of being washed vigorously in ice water the pieces of flower are still dry and untouched on their insides and still packed full of trichomes (and I break up the buds into marble size pieces to try to increase surface area).

So using a solvent like alcohol and making edibles with coconut oil is all I can think of doing with it all.

I took down all the reeds I used for supports & trellising around my plants this year. Just doing some fall cleaning around the yard and getting things a lil tidy. Chopping down the dead sun flower stalks and poppy stalks, cutting away some lower fronds on the palm tree.

The yard always ends up looking so open and so spacious after all the plants come down and the reeds are taken out and all the growth of the year around the yard is trimmed down.

The yard is already looking lush & green from these early fall rains that we've had...all sorts of seedlings are popping up and carpeting what was bone dry & hard compact earth not even a month ago with a vibrant & soft green, the earth is already soft & moist. Baby grasses, nettles, chickweed...the top soil already has a lot of earth worm activity/population. I've said it before around here, but the patch of earth and soil I've had to work with in the yard here is the only thing I like about living where I do, I'm going to miss it when I move.

Oh man! You getting all the secrets now…

I hold a little  metal vice with my knees… I know, fancy stuff.

Yeah smashing flowers takes some dialing in to get decent yields.

I like smashing bubble hash! Way better yields and after one smash I have enough oil to smoke for a few days, or a day, however I feel like dabbing.

I do think the rosin from flowers can be a bit more tasty than the bubble hash rosin. It’s all good though.

Ha ha! I remember first smashing the flowers “ this is stupid, why take a perfect nugget and smash it?”…

Now I’m like… “ ohhh, this tastes good! Let’s smash it!”

I see, yea a vice would do the trick.

Hash-rosin seems to be the most common rosin on the "market"/in stores around here, pretty sure most of the primo/high dollar rosin is hash-rosin and not flower-rosin.

I always assumed hash-rosin would have better qualities but  ....I imagine it depends on a lot.

I'm hoping to find someone local with a press. I'm going to ask a couple friends if they know anyone in the area with one. I might even make a post on CL seeing if someone has one that would be down to let me press out a personal amount real quick lol, work out a trade/barter for their time.

I've also heard of people & different shops renting out a rosin press, not sure what the typical hourly rate is or how that works.

Rosin is my favorite as far as extracts go....I enjoy live resin too, but I prefer rosin.

I'm all about nice melty hash too.

Man, MAC1 is such a killer strain!

"Alien Cookies F2 X (Colombian landrace X Starfighter)"

I had it from the store a couple times last year but this stuff I grew is the first proper example of the strain that I've had.

The buds feel soaked/wet with resin, extremely sticky.

The aroma I find to be unique and I have a difficult time putting my finger on it and explaining, which is rare for me lol. It is slightly sweet, slightly creamy, kinda herbaceous and spicy, a bit of a dough-like or biscuit-like note, some musty/musk, some slight floral notes buried deep in there, a touch of diesel. I know those are all characteristics I've described in other strains before but I don't know of any other strains that have an overall essence/aroma like this strain does.

When it was hanging to dry it stank!...like it actually stunk with a strange & unique foul smell that I've never smelled before in my life lol. I woke up in the middle of the night wondering "what the fuck is that smell!?" lol, then remembered I had the MAC hanging in my closet lol (it was a small plant too). No other strain I've grown has had the sort of stank that this Mac1 does when drying. Which is interesting because it doesn't seem to be a very "loud" strain to me, the aroma it has is not super pungent/loud/sharp/gassy.

The high/effects though! That's what I love the most about it...I feel it in my head immediately after taking a toke. The high comes on fast. It is a clear and soaring and euphoric high and doesn't get me "stoned" at all, very potent smoke but super smooth & with out any edge to it at all, pretty euphoric stuff! I find myself being active and "getting in gear" after smoking the stuff. Terrific day time smoke.

One of the best highs I've had from the herb in a while. Makes me head/mind and body feel silky smooth!

I will definitely be trying to grow this one again, and next time I'm able to grow I'm def trying to find some strains/crosses with MAC as one of the parents (Anyone have any MAC crosses to suggest?). And I'd love to play around with it in some hobby-breeding projects someday.

Used up some of last years left overs yesterday

Then Inspected the girls and saw a few spots of rot were more water drops got through I think but I spent all night cutting them down as I was not risking it and the humidity has been in the 80’s since the weekend.  Few of the final photos

What type of extract is that? Assuming BHO or alcohol?

Nice chunky colas/flowers!

How much longer do you think you would let them go if you weren't seeing any spots of rot or dealing with high humidity?

How much herb do y'all smoke or dab or eat a day? (assuming just about everyone in here uses the herb daily in one form or another lol)

I don't weigh out anything but I feel I'm around 1.5g to 2g a day of flower lately (smoked), mostly fluctuating between 1g to 2g a day over the past few years.

Even when I have virtually bottomless jars of herb on hand I still don't smoke all that much. Though years ago I would have considered 1g to 2g a day to be quite a bit lol. I feel it's a solid/moderate amount but not a lot.

And I like having the tolerance that I do.

I was planning on taking them this weekend they ripened quickly this week and 3 days would only hurt and not really help so I decided to take them yesterday, I almost let them ride another day but when I saw that chunk I knew it was time, good thing I took another look last night, it’s been some time since I pulled the night shift!! I was getting little nervous already I’ve never dealt with high humidity harvesting earlier in Oct. .

You are correct it’s BHO I find the older nugs tend to make a darker wax and more shatter like, I also think the outside temps humidity play into how my finished product comes out, I pulled 10g off around 2 oz. Flower (2 blasts). ....

That's pretty much the same exact situation I had with my plants this time around towards the end.

I always harvest my plants late at night or early morning before sunrise. I'm usually not pulling em' down all at once though, I can see how such would turn into a late night/all night shift lol.

What strain(s) did you blast? Did the flower still have decent aroma and did it pull into the BHO at all?

I was checking out the slurpera after seeing it mentioned here.

They’ve got some crazy shit now that I would’ve 100% fried my brain with and loved it when I was younger.

The terp pearls are an awesome invention. Assuming I understand them right that is. They spin in the oil as you hit it to disperse the heat and keep it mixed?

Yea bangers with a carb cap/pearls, and those terp slurpers, can deliver a real big wallop to the dome lol. Though some extracts that are full spectrum and only in the 50% to 70% range aren't too intense, some of the rosin I've had  and dab feels like flower to me...Done right it's pretty smooth too for how much vapor one is pulling into their lungs (for me at least lol).

And yea that's pretty much what the pearls do. With a carb cap on top there is perfect convection going on with the air currents inside the banger or slurper, the pearls increase surface area and keep the oil & heat moving around & evenly distributed.

Depending how/what temp one dabs at...At first the dab will just melt into the banger or slurper and barely start to bubble/vape, it's not until the carb cap is on top and the convection starts and the extract is smeared/spread around that the dab of extract starts to fully vaporize.

I've never hit a slurper but have dabbed with a carb cap & pearls. Some live resin or rosin tastes soooo gosh darn good that way, mouth coating goodness. I usually dab with a nectar collector and the flavor doesn't come through as nicely as it does in a banger with a carb cap & pearls.

How long do you guys infuse your oils? I feel like 2 hours is probably adequate. I've done several shorter infusions that were just as potent. But everywhere I read online says 4-8 hours, and at way higher temps than I do it. A few years ago all the advice I read said to infuse between 160-180F, but now everywhere says you can go up to 220F. Maybe the old recommendations were for butter? IDK I'm happy with my stuff just wondering what other people do.

It's been a while since I've made any edible oils...But IIRC I always did anywhere from 3 or 4 hours, up to overnight (12-ish hours).

I've been wondering if one would need to decarb the herb at all prior to a long infusion around 200f?

I'd think 4-ish hours at 200f-ish should be plenty of heat/time to decarb most of the available THC?

how long have you guys grown cannabis?

This was my 4th year (outdoors).

I have no experience with indoor growing.

I have definitely learned more and improved a bit each time around...still lots of learning & dialing in to do tho, no doubt. Endless.

It is unlikely I'll be growing anything next year since I don't know where I'll be living...it might happen, but I already have it in my mind that it won't be.

If most of my buds aren't moldy once I get into them then I feel this year was certainly my best grow yet. I've already been smoking on some of the stuff from each plant and I haven't spotted any mold/rot, so far so good lol.

My next grow might just end up being a small closet grow lol, in that case I'll have all sorts of questions for you indoor folks lol.

I'm still waiting for "the one" though lol...Where I am growing all strains that I have specifically selected and have a desire to grow (and not just what clones I can get my hands on, like over the past several years). As well as having the funds in place for a proper pest management regimen and all the nutrition I want for the soil/plants...and having everything dialed in & on point. And ideally in a green house.

Every grow I've done so far has been bare bones minimum and I've managed to grow what I consider to be "good" quality herb while dealing with the elements outdoors, some even pretty damn dank IMO. I'm looking forward to when I have the funds to do it proper how I really want to.

Pretty happy with the herb from this year's harvest so far though. I'll post some pics and a ramble about it all once I get through more of the trimming.

I'm actually just about to start getting into it all today lol, what I've already trimmed was just some stuff that I pulled early.

Real slow dry this time around. Almost 14 days now. Past years most of my stuff dried in 5 to 8 days.

Have you noticed any difference from drying slower? I think the long dry is similarly mythical to the long infusion. How much does it really matter?

I don't think I've ever had a 14 day dry even with humidity and temp completely controlled. I think I've done 7-10 days a few times but I've never noticed anything dramatic, just more likely to pickup ammonia smell.

This is the first time I've had stuff take this long to dry, so I have no real comparison to make. I think the very longest I've had stuff take before I start trimming was 10 days.

I imagine some of it has been dry enough to trim and go into jars for several days now, I've just been lagging on getting into it all. I have a closet full of colas and I can't check em' all, some are really deep in there lol.

My first year growing I recall hearing 10 days of dry time as an ideal duration to aim for. 7 days at minimum.

I do feel that allowing buds to dry slowly will create a smoother and better cured herb/smoke, versus drying quickly. I imagine there is a "sweet spot" in the dry time.

I don't break my stuff down in size much, I hang up full colas the size of my arm so they take a while to dry out.

I also trim dry, so they have a layer of foliage on em' while hanging up to dry and that no doubt slows down the dry time even more (versus a bare/exposed cola with all foliage removed)

I don't think 14 days is all that long, or "too long/slow" of a dry time...I've heard from quite a few folks that aim for 10 to 14 day dry times. But I suppose the question is, is there much of a difference between 7 days and 14 days(?).

I'll let ya know how they turned out once I get deeper into some of my most chunky primo buds/tops, as far as how they smell/smoke/taste.

So here’s a current selection I have on available cuttings… what catches your guys eye?  May be some others, waiting to hear.

Allen Wrench
Gelato #41
Gelato×Dosi
Guava Biscotti
Ice Cream Cake
Manic Flavor
Peanut Butter Breath
Pineapple upside
Purple Diesel
Runtz
Urban poison

I haven't had "Allen Wrench" in over a decade lol, haven't even heard about it or seen it on menus in years, didn't know it was still around, if it's the same one I used to get back in the mid 2000s I recall I liked it a lot.

"Peanut Butter Breath" is a favorite of mine...That's one I want to grow myself next time around.

"Urban Poison" sounds interesting...assuming that's a Durban Poison cross of some sort? I love Durban Poison.

"Guava Biscotti" catches my eye for sure...Most Guava strains I've had are super terpy with exotic fruity notes, and I've only had Biscotti a couple times but it had a very complex and unique aroma profile. Smelled like a mix of a florist shop and a coffee shop and a spice shop. I imagine that would be an interesting cross.

Gelato X Dosi is likely a killer cross.

And I love me some Gelato. I know it's everywhere these days and so many popular strains are crosses of gelato or similar dessert strains, but I looove that musky-fruity-floral essence that is drenched in skunk & gas. Def a favorite of mine.

Those are what catch my eye and interest the most from that list.

I'm just getting into trimming some of the most primo/fattest tops of my harvest as of the past couple days.

I had mentioned in a previous post how I've had most of my harvest hanging to dry for 2 weeks, almost 3 weeks now as of today (the last colas were harvested on the 3rd of this month), and how this is the longest/slowest I've had my herb take to dry.

The long/slow dry time doesn't seem to have any impact on the quality, if anything I really do feel the slower dry time helps create a better cure and a better smoke.

The stuff is KILLER!...Perfect texture and moisture content to go into jars, the aroma is very loud and still gassy and is complex, no off smells, the smoke is smooth and thick/oily. The flowers are absolutely soaked/drenched in resin.

A few colas were actually still a little moist even after 3 weeks of hanging to dry, but they were in a small spot in the closet that wasn't getting as much air flow, even they weren't moldy tho and didn't have any off smells.

The "Kush Cake" in particular is hands down some of the best herb I've ever seen/smelled/handled in my life, certainly one of the best plants I've ever grown.

The MAC1 too :yesnod: .

I'm only about maybe 1/3rd of the way through trimming the bulk of my harvest so far...I haven't found all that much mold/rot. Y'all may recall me being concerned about that since the weather was so cool and damp during mid to late flowering in my area and it was my first time ever dealing with "moisture" and rain while flowering. I was worried that once I got into breaking down and trimming everything I was going to see a lot of mold/rot...I have come across some buds that have a spot of mold, I still feel that the mold was all introduced/caused by caterpillars and not the buds rotting solely because of ambient humidity.

So far I've thrown away maybe only 14 to 20g of buds that had some mold, out of about a pound or more...So no big losses, pretty typical for me to loose an ounce or two like that.

I will eventually post pics and a ramble & review about my grow/herb from this year ...been busy.

Not to go off topic...but it's also mushroom season in my area right now. I found a new patch of Psilocybe allenii last week :awesome: . It is that time of year around here where one's hands and fingers are caked in resin/hash one day, and then dusted & covered in spores the next day lol.

Got mushrooms in the dehydrator and trimming flowers...the earth provides...'Tis the season. :stoner:

5mg wont even scratch the surface for me, 8 need a good 100mg to feel it, 300mg and I'm in a comfortable nod.

It's been a while since I've had a home-made/full spectrum edible...

...the past few years the only edible-THC things I've consumed have been from the store, which I'm pretty certain are all made with distillate and only contain THC and no other cannabinoids/components from the plant.

And either my tolerance has gone up over the years, and/or those distillate based edibles don't really hit all that hard for me  . I've taken around 30mg to 50mg of THC syrup a few times over the past couple years (given to me from a friend), a dose that I feel should have me pretty stoned, and I barely feel it at all.

Edibles have always worked for me, but everything I've had from the store over the past few years doesn't really do much of anything for me (at the doses I've taken). Maybe I do need to take 100mg these day lol.

I'm going to make a small batch of canna-coco-oil today though :uptosomething: ...see if I can't get myself supa stoned.

(when I do get high on edibles, it's always a super "rich" feeling high, makes my body feel very euphoric and smooth/silky, they also make me super giggly and laugh a lot like my early days of smoking...def a bit different and a bit "extra" compared to smoking)

I've got some organic virgin coconut oil from "Dr. Bronners" right now (I guess the soap dude also has a sister company involved with growing coconuts/producing virgin coconut oil)....the stuff is FIRE though! lol Best quaity coconut oil I've ever had...It is the first time I've had virgin coconut oil too, the oil itself tastes delicious with a pretty strong coconut flavor, very fatty & rich. Cold processed, has all the goods.

And when it comes to making brownies, I too prefer the Ghirardelli brand as far as pre-mixes go.

Hi A.K.A. You told folks to pop over here if they'd fermented their stash.

I've 'cob' cured my last 2 harvests...

Those were wrapped in January of this year and have been slowly consumed from the 6 month cure mark. Pic was probably June time? They're now vac sealed and in my seed fridge till I need a fresh one. I put an ounce (at 80% RH ish) in each one and end up with 15g(ish) when dried.

I'm no expert, but i got it to work and it's been a bit of a winner for me. I smoke it with a topping of bubble hash from time to time, but I also vape the life out of it. :psychsplit:

Good luck with yours man!

I'll dig out some more pics for you if you're interested. :hi:

What are the benefits & attraction you have to curing the herb like that?

You cure your entire harvest in that fashion?

What does it do to the flavor and aroma, how different is the aroma and flavor from the live/fresh resin?

I've been aware of cob-curing for years now but have never tried it. I have interest in fermented "things" though. And I know fermenting often changes the chemical profile of psychoactive plants giving a bit of a different "feel", fermented kratom is a bit different from typical dry leaf, I imagine fermented tobacco is a bit different, many plants when fermented produce different compounds or effects that wouldn't be present otherwise.

With that said though...A big part of my love for the cannabis plant & flower comes from the aesthetics of the flower, and the super complex aromas and flavors of the fresh/live resin. I feel like cob-cured bud would lose a lot of its aromatic complexity and a lot of its unique flavor, especially if heat is part of the curing process.

Some year I will give it a try with a small amount of herb...I am certainly curious about it...just seems like some work for producing a material that doesn't have the qualities that I desire.

Trimming trimming trimming trim.....I have been at it for weeks now....starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel lol. Probably 4 to 5 more days to go.
